Another complex project..
this house was built in the 1800s and was extremely leaky.

We used a combination of Rockwool, Sprayfoam, and foam board to insulate. We lined the under side of the floor with fiberglass to reduce sound between upstairs and downstairs apartments.

The finishing Touch is a smart membrane— smart membranes dictate air and moisture..
In the winter, they block indoor moisture from entering cold wall cavities, but in the summer, they open up to let trapped moisture dry out safely.

Many Vermont house’s are built on dirt floors. It’s convenient and cheap. Unfortunately, it leaves the opportunity for moisture from the earth to rise into the rest of the house.

Moisture is any house’s main enemy— causing rot, poor air quality, and potentially attracting unwanted pests.

The answer for this is to install a v***r barrier. V***r barriers trap moisture in the earth, preventing it from turning into condensation in your house.

Quick project that will make a huge difference!
We began this project with intentions on dense packing cellulose into this wall, but once we drilled our first hole, we realized this wall was actually ‘insulated’ with brick!
Because of this we changed the plan— we removed the lath and plaster, then the bricks and extra wood used as nailers.
Then insulated with spray foam.
Our customer mentioned to us that the whole second floor is very chilly in the winter.. though this is only one wall, it will make a big difference!
