Are you a current student or recent 2026 graduate? We want your submissions!

One of our favorite firm traditions is hosting the Emerging Professionals Sketch Competition each year. Sketches should be done in hand media (pencil, charcoal, ink, watercolor, etc.) with an architectural subject in nature.

Submit your work for a chance to win $1,000! Sketches are due June 14th.

What does healing look like when design is rooted in community identity? That question was at the heart of our panel at last week's AMFP NorCal Behavioral Health Symposium.

Lionakis and its project team partners, RSR Construction Advisors and Boyer Construction, presented a progressive design-build case study on Mathiesen Memorial Health — a behavioral health project in Jamestown, CA that explores how tribal community design principles can drive real impact in rural areas. The conversation centered on something we believe deeply: that great healthcare design starts with listening.

Happy 15th anniversary to Carole Wenell, Senior Associate / Marketing Director!

Carole joined Lionakis as a Marketing Coordinator and has grown into an essential part of our team. In her own words:
"15 years flew by! When I started as a Marketing Coordinator, I never could have imagined the journey it's been. I've stayed for two reasons: the opportunity to grow and the ability to do impactful work alongside people I genuinely enjoy. After all this time, there's no feeling like working hand in hand with a project team that is truly invested in winning: building a strategy, firing ideas back and forth, crafting and honing the message. That energy is infectious, and even better when it results in a win."
