We don’t just build roads, we connect the communities we live and work in.

That perspective shaped how Teichert and Caltrans District 5 approached Highway 156 San Juan Bautista. Throughout construction, our teams worked together to look beyond the limits of the jobsite and find solutions that kept the needs of the surrounding community in mind.

When traffic staging called for reducing the highway to one through lane, the team found a way to maintain two and keep traffic moving. When reconstruction of Union Road, a primary route into Hollister, was expected to close the intersection for six months, collaboration between Teichert and Caltrans helped reopen it in just eight weeks. And when upcoming work was expected to impact access to a local restaurant for several months, the team adjusted the sequence and reduced that impact to six weeks.

These weren't just schedule or construction decisions. They reflected a shared understanding that delivering a successful project also meant considering the businesses, residents, and travelers who experienced our work every day. That common focus gave our teams a reason to keep asking what we could do differently and where we could do better.

We're grateful for the partnership we built with Caltrans District 5 and for a project team that was willing to listen, adapt, and solve problems together for the San Juan Bautista community.

Highway 156 has since received multiple industry honors from Caltrans, SWCPA, and most recently the ASCE San Francisco Section.

Congratulations to James de Alba II, named United Contractors' (UCON) Safety Hero of the Year!

As a General Superintendent for Teichert Construction, James lives by one belief: every employee should go home in better shape than when they arrived. Three years ago, he challenged a Superintendent who didn't think zero injuries was possible. That conversation sparked the creation of a structured On-the-Job Training (OJT) program, a hands-on leadership system where Superintendents collaborate with peers to design training, prepare Foremen to lead with confidence, observe real-time crew engagement, and provide targeted coaching on what resonates and what needs to improve.

The results speak for themselves. What started with one team of 65 employees has scaled to over 850 craft employees across our division. This approach has elevated safety leadership to a world-class standard and strengthened how our teams communicate, plan, and execute across all aspects of their work.

Congratulations, James, on this well-deserved recognition!

Teichert Construction is proud to share that San José Mineta International Airport Taxiway Victor Phase 2 has been named the 2026 Outstanding Airports and Ports Project by the ASCE San Francisco Section.

Working within an active airfield, our team partnered with the City of San José, Airport Operations, Kimley-Horn and project stakeholders to rethink how the work could be delivered. By consolidating four construction phases into two, we created larger work areas, reduced mobilizations and kept multiple operations moving simultaneously.

The result: Taxiway Victor was delivered 191 days early, bringing critical airfield infrastructure online in time to support increased aviation activity surrounding football season and major events including the Super Bowl and World Cup.

Working at an airport, schedule isn't just about finishing early, it's about understanding what that time means to the people and operations depending on it.

We’re proud of the team and partners who made this project possible, and honored to have our work recognized by ASCE.

🚧 Shovels are in the ground!

Today our Board of Supervisors, County Executive Office and Department of Public Works joined regional partners to celebrate the groundbreaking of Phase I of Placer Parkway, a project decades in the making that will improve east-west travel, reduce traffic congestion, strengthen emergency access and support the region's continued growth.

This milestone is the result of years of planning and strong partnerships between Placer County, the Placer County Water Agency, the United Auburn Indian Community, the South Placer Regional Transportation Authority (Placer County Transportation Planning Agency - PCTPA) and Teichert Construction.

Construction is officially underway, bringing us one step closer to a safer, better-connected transportation network for generations to come.
