A rainy Memorial Day Weekend in the Hamptons had us appreciating spaces like this a little extra. Built-in seating, shelves lined with books, the sound of rain outside, and nowhere to rush off to. The kind of spot made for long weekends, slow mornings, and every day in between.

Some are meant for slow mornings, soft light coming through the windows, coffee that gets reheated twice, and quiet spaces that make you want to stay a little longer before the day begins.

Every project has a side you don’t always get to see, the early days when things are messy, dusty, and still coming together. That part of the process matters just as much as the finish.

The first images show the work in progress. The last shows the result: a space that feels welcoming, thoughtful, and ready to be used again.

This is the Sagaponack General Store, restored with care, intention, and a deep respect for its history, and built to welcome people back in.
