Nurses are the backbone of our communities. They take care of all of us. Right now, it is our turn to take care of them.

For over 215 days, Teamsters nurses have been on the picket line fighting for fair wages and safer patient ratios.

This week, UA Local 85 partnered with Sheriff Chris Swanson, UA LOCAL 370, and Teamsters Local 332 to support them in a meaningful way. Together, they delivered 350 hams so these nurses and their families can enjoy a proper Easter meal.

On Good Friday, union brothers and sisters showed up, stood side by side, and reminded these nurses that they are not alone.

That is what solidarity looks like.

UA Local 85, alongside Sheriff Chris Swanson , UA LOCAL 370, and Teamsters Local 332, came together to support nurses who have been on strike for over 7 months.

These nurses are fighting for fair wages and safe staffing for themselves, their patients, and the future of healthcare.

This Easter, we made sure they and their families are taken care of.

Because when one union is in need, we all show up.

That is what solidarity looks like.

For more than 100 years, U.A. Local 85 Plumbers, Steamfitters, and HVACR Service Technicians have been training, working, and raising families right here in Saginaw Township.

Our story is built alongside the students, teachers, and families who make this community strong. Many of our apprentices come from Saginaw Township Schools, and we’re proud to give back by supporting the Saginaw Township Schools Bond 2025.

We are proud to be a Premier Sponsor again at this year’s MiCareerQuest at the SVSU! Nearly 5,000 high school sophomores from across 11 counties came together to explore hands-on exhibits and discover their future career pathways.

We believe in the power of skilled trades to build strong futures. It was incredible to connect with so many students, showcase the rewarding opportunities in the trades, and inspire the next generation of Michigan’s workforce.

A huge thank you to the organizers, volunteers, educators, and all the students who made this day unforgettable.

UA Local 85 was proud to welcome Chris Swanson, candidate for Michigan Governor, to our hall for a powerful night of discussion with our members and local community.

Swanson shared his inspiring journey, from law enforcement and public service to Ironman races and grassroots activism, with a message rooted in hope, accountability, and servant leadership. He emphasized the importance of protecting constitutional, bargaining, and civil rights, investing in Michigan’s economy and mental health system, and building a government that listens and serves.

Thank you to everyone who came out to meet Chris, ask tough questions, and take part in a conversation about Michigan’s future.

We believe in leaders who protect, serve, and unify.
