The Atlantic is beginning to start its normal ramp up phase for the year. We will see an increase in tropical waves coming off of Africa in weekly succession along with the slowing of the Saharan dust. There are a couple of tropical waves coming off of Africa currently to keep an eye on over the next week. NHC has a significant area marked with a 70% chance of become a system in the next 5-7 days.

We have our first system of the season, Tropical Cyclone One has brought itself to life in the Gulf. Forecasting now to become a tropical storm over the next 12-24 hours bringing some substantial rain to Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama over the next 2-3 days. There are flash flood warnings out in those states ahead of this system.

NHC has raised the probability chances up to 40% for this gulf system but forecasts are showing it drifting northeasterly up into Texas and Louisiana before crossing into Alabama into Georgia. Main issue is the high probability of significant downpours to these areas.

Well…. Ya’ll ready?? Today is the first day of the 2026 hurricane season. A lot of talk regarding what may or may not happen due to El Niño being in full effect. Smaller predictions from sources but that doesn’t mean to let your guard down. Always have your emergency evacuation route planned out and have your supplies ready. This season will definitely be an interesting one!

Absolutely terrifying temperature drop incoming for the Southeast!! Florida will be calling in for snow days! We just aren’t prepared for these situations! Hurricanes are one thing but black ice and snow is a whole other category that us flip flop wearing sunburn loving Floridians can’t quite comprehend.
