For six years, I’ve ended my videos with the same words: “Give me your best ARRRGH!”

But have you ever wondered WHY?

Because those three R’s mean something far deeper to me today than they ever have before.

RISE. RESET. REBUILD.

Life can knock you down. Sometimes so hard that everything you thought you knew about your future changes.

Maybe you’re 40, 50, or even 60 years old.

Maybe you’ve lost your direction, your business, your confidence, or the life you thought you were going to have.

And now you’re wondering if it’s too late to start over.

IT’S NOT TOO LATE.

I’m 51 years old, and I’m still learning, growing, building, and rebuilding.

That’s what YardPirate is about.

REAL LIFE. REAL TALK. REAL BUSINESS.

No pretending life is perfect. No overnight-success nonsense. Just an ordinary guy sharing the journey of entrepreneurship, hard work, resilience, mistakes, and second chances.

Every morning, I want you to remember three things:

RISE — Get up. You still have a purpose.

RESET — Yesterday doesn’t have to determine tomorrow.

REBUILD — Start where you are, with what you have, and keep moving forward.

You don’t need to have everything figured out.

You just need to begin.

If you’re ready to build yourself again, subscribe and come aboard the Krewe.

And tomorrow morning, say those three words to yourself.

RISE. RESET. REBUILD.

Thank me later.

Now…

GIVE ME YOUR BEST ARRRGH!

🏴‍☠️ MY MIND SAYS 31. MY BODY SAYS 51! 🌧️😂

I don’t know what it is about working in the rain, but lately it seems to wear me out twice as fast!

Maybe it’s the wet clothes.

Maybe it’s the extra effort everything takes.

Or maybe it’s just the fact that I’M 51 YEARS OLD AND STILL THINK I’M 31! 🤣

One thing about being a landscaper is that Mother Nature doesn’t always cooperate with your schedule.

Sunshine? ☀️ We’re working.

Cold mornings? 🥶 We’re working.

A little rain? 🌧️ We’re still working!

Of course, when conditions become unsafe, it’s time to stop. No job is worth getting hurt over.

But here’s something I’m learning as I get older…

I still have the same drive, determination, and work ethic I had 20 years ago.

The difference?

My body sends me the bill a whole lot sooner! 💀😂

And recovery isn’t quite as quick as it used to be.

But you know what?

I still love what I do.

I’m grateful I can get up every morning, work with my hands, build my business, and keep chasing my dreams.

Getting older doesn’t mean slowing down on your dreams. It means learning to work smarter while you chase them. 💪

👇 Fellow landscapers and blue-collar workers: Does working in the rain exhaust you faster than working in the sunshine? Or is it just me getting older? 😂

🏴‍☠️ YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR! 🌿💰

I recently lost a landscaping client to someone offering prices LOWER than what we were charging back in 2020! 🤯

Let that sink in.

It’s 2026. Equipment costs more. Fuel costs more. Insurance costs more. Just about EVERYTHING costs more.

But somehow, we’re supposed to charge LESS?

Well, I recently saw the property, and let’s just say…

THE DIFFERENCE IN QUALITY IS SHOWING! 😳

Here’s something I’ve learned after years of running Flash Of Green Landscaping:

Never apologize for charging what your work is worth.

There’s always going to be someone willing to do the job cheaper.

And that’s okay!

I’m not interested in being the cheapest landscaper.

I’m interested in delivering quality, consistency, and professionalism. 💪

Now, on to the next topic!

🍂 THE 2026 GROWING SEASON IS WINDING DOWN!

Here in Central Florida, we’re reaching that time of year when grass growth begins slowing down and maintenance schedules start transitioning.

After today, I’m moving my regular mowing schedule to BIWEEKLY!

And that brings me to my question for the Green Industry…

👇 WHEN DID YOU SWITCH TO BIWEEKLY MOWING?

Are you already there, or are you still cutting weekly?

DROP YOUR LOCATION AND DATE IN THE COMMENTS! 👇

Let’s see how the growing season compares across the country!

🐰🌿 WE ARE STEWARDS OF WILDLIFE!

Being a landscaper means working in an environment that we share with countless living creatures.

And sometimes, those little creatures need us to look out for them. ❤️

Today, this baby bunny tried desperately to get away from me. The little guy ran so hard that he eventually ran out of energy.

That’s when the work stops and compassion takes over.

As a former wildlife biologist, I have a tremendous amount of respect for the animals that share our environment.

And you better believe…

HECK YEAH, I’M GOING TO BE THEIR STEWARD! 💪🐰

We have a responsibility to be aware of what’s around us.

Check before mowing.
Look before trimming.
Watch for nests, burrows, and wildlife hiding in the grass.

Give animals room to escape, and never put productivity ahead of protecting a life.

Sometimes the best thing we can do is simply stop, give wildlife space, and let nature take its course.

Because being a great landscaper isn’t just about taking care of the property. It’s about taking care of the life that lives there. 🌎❤️

👇 Fellow landscapers, what’s the most memorable wildlife encounter you’ve had on the job?

🏴‍☠️ 51 YEARS OLD WITH A 31-YEAR-OLD MINDSET! 💪😂

There’s something nobody really prepares you for when you get into your 50s.

Your mind doesn’t always realize your body is getting older! 🤣

In my head, I’m still 31.

I can work all day in the Florida heat, lift heavy materials, push through exhaustion, and wake up the next morning ready to do it all over again.

At least that’s what my BRAIN tells me! 😂

But at 51?

The energy runs out a little faster.

The muscles start complaining a little sooner.

And that recovery that used to take one good night’s sleep?

Yeah… we’re gonna need a little more time! 💀🤣

Here’s what I’m learning, though.

Getting older doesn’t mean getting weaker. It means getting SMARTER.

I’ve still got the drive.
I’ve still got the determination.
I’ve still got the work ethic.

But I’m learning that I don’t have to destroy my body every day to prove I can still work hard.

Work smarter.
Take the breaks.
Stay hydrated.
Build strength.
Respect recovery.

Because I’m not trying to prove I can still work like I’m 31.

I’m trying to build a life that allows me to keep doing what I love at 61, 71, and beyond. 💪

And if I happen to wake up tomorrow feeling like I got run over by my own Kubota mower…

Well, that’s just another day in the life of the YardPirate! 😂🏴‍☠️

Before the sun comes up and before the first mower starts, there’s one thing every landscaper should be doing.

A DAILY TRUCK & TRAILER INSPECTION!

This morning’s inspection revealed something that could’ve turned into a much bigger problem.

A FLAT TRAILER TIRE! 🤦‍♂️

But here’s the good news!

We caught it BEFORE hitting the road.

No roadside breakdown. No wasted trip. No unnecessary risk.

Just a quick tire change, a safety check, and we’re back on our way! 💪

That’s the difference between being PROACTIVE and REACTIVE!

Running a landscaping business isn’t just about cutting grass. It’s about protecting your equipment, your livelihood, and everyone sharing the road with you.

A few minutes of prevention can save hours of frustration.

Work smarter. Stay prepared. Get home safely.

👇 Fellow landscapers, do you inspect your truck and trailer EVERY morning?

🏴‍☠️ LANDSCAPING TIP OF THE DAY! 🤣

One thing nobody tells you about maintaining commercial restaurant properties…

YOU FIND SOME ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING THINGS! 🤢😂

Food wrappers, cigarette butts, mystery containers, and things you don’t even want to identify.

But today’s YardPirate Pro Tip might just save your life! 🤣

If you’re cleaning up a restaurant parking lot and find a water bottle filled with yellow liquid and little bubbles floating around inside…

🚨 DO NOT DRINK IT!!! 🚨

I repeat…

THAT AIN’T LEMONADE! 🍋💀🤣

Somebody apparently couldn’t make it to the bathroom!

And now it’s the landscaper’s problem. 🤦‍♂️

The glamorous life of a commercial landscaper, ladies and gentlemen!

We don’t just cut grass. We see things. Things we can NEVER unsee. 😂🏴‍☠️

Seriously, wear gloves and never open or handle mystery liquids unnecessarily.

👇 Fellow landscapers, what’s the NASTIEST thing you’ve ever found on a property?

When you’re starting over, here’s something I wish more people would tell you:

JUST BE YOURSELF.

Social media is LOUD.

Everybody is telling you what to do.

What truck you need.
What equipment you need.
What software you need.
How much you should charge.
How many employees you should have.
How you should market.
How you should grow.

And somewhere in the video you’ll hear…

“I built a million-dollar company.”

That’s awesome.

But sometimes we forget to ask:

How long did it take?

10 years?

15 years?

20 years?

We’re constantly shown the million-dollar business.

We don’t always see the decade it took to build it.

We see the “overnight success.”

We don’t see the thousands of mornings they got up and went to work before anybody knew their name.

So if you’re starting over at 45, 50, 55—or ANY age—don’t fall into the comparison trap.

You don’t need to look like a million-dollar company on Day 1.

You don’t need everything they’re selling you.

And you damn sure don’t need to become somebody else just because they were successful doing it their way.

Keep it simple.

Find some customers.

Do great work.

Keep your word.

Learn.

Make mistakes.

Get a little better tomorrow.

And most importantly…

Find yourself first.

Your business will eventually become a reflection of who YOU are.

It took me six years to understand some of that.

I’m still learning.

I’m still building.

And I’m still finding my own way.

Your Day 1 doesn’t need to look like somebody else’s Year 15.

Turn down the noise.

Start where you are.

Build what makes sense for YOU.

And give yourself some damn time. 🏴‍☠️

Started Over at 45.
