This project means a lot to us.
After the storm, First Baptist became a hub for the island, get supplies, warm food, fellowship and connect to the internet. Their WiFi helped keep Sound Electric operational when staying connected was so difficult. We will never forget how much that meant.
Now we are proud to be a part of the team helping raise and protect the church that helped so many of us. It’s a honor to have a hand in its next chapter. ⛪️

Pine Island friends have created the Mary Lou Memorial Scholarship Fund to provide money for local, island students to go to trade school or college. Mary Lou Sharpe, her loving partner of 16 years Butch Gay and three others were victims of a horrible traffic accident while sitting outside That BBQ Place in Matlacha. Mary Lou, who grew up on Pine Island/Matlacha, lost her life in the accident. See link in comments ⬇

Really excited to see someone breathe new life into such an iconic Matlacha spot instead of watching it continue to fade away. Places like this are part of what gives the island its character. Wishing them the best with the restoration and can’t wait to see what it becomes. The Island thanks Eric and Char for taking on the challenge!
