Ven McAndrew is a life long resident of beautiful St. Joseph, Michigan, located in the southwest corner of the state. He received his architectural degree from Lawrence Technological University in 1981. McAndrew has been a licensed architect in the state of Michigan since 1987. Prior to starting Keystone Designs he was the Vice President of Architectural Services at an Engineering/Architectural/Surveying firm in Benton Harbor. Keystone Designs, started in 1993, has served Southwest Michigan now for over 30 years. McAndrew has also served on the Board of Directors for Vision Outreach International, and the City of St. Joseph Heritage Center. He has two wonderful children, three grandchildren, and is married to his childhood sweetheart Kathy.

We’re excited to introduce some of our friends who are working hard on Brookview’s construction project. First up is Ven McAndrew, architect and founder of Keystone Designs.

Ven’s history with Brookview goes back to 1986 (almost 40 years!) when he was working with Abonmarche, Inc., which was commissioned to help convert a local Benton Harbor building into a school. In 2000, Ven oversaw an expansion of Brookview, which added 10,000 square feet to the building, including new classrooms, kitchen space, and an elevator — all the while balancing budget and city regulations with cultivating a Montessori environment where our students can thrive. Ven’s wife, Kathy, also worked at Brookview for several years in the 1980s as a credentialed Montessori teacher.

Most recently, Ven has been working closely with Ziolkowski Construction and Enspect Engineering to repair Brookview’s structural issues, including submitting construction plans to the State of Michigan, meeting with inspectors, and supporting the installation of our temporary modular classrooms. Thank you, Ven, for your passion and long-lasting dedication to Brookview!
