So the spring time….

Do you know when to prune your hydrangeas?🌸✂️

It all depends on the type!

• Bigleaf & Oakleaf bloom on old wood and need very little pruning. If needed, prune right after flowering. Next year’s buds form in August.

• Rebloomers like Endless Summer bloom on old and new growth, so they will not lose a whole season of blooms.

• Smooth & Panicle bloom on new wood. Prune to your preferred height in late winter or early spring. Panicles can even be grown in tree form.

• Climbing blooms on old wood but can be pruned the first few years to reduce leggy growth.

No blooms?🌷It could be cold damage, drought, too much shade, too much nitrogen, or pruning at the wrong time for certain varieties.
