NewStudio Architecture Established in April 2011, NewStudio Architecture is a national architectural and sustainable design firm.

We believe meaningful architecture and design sustains the human spirit. We believe that the continued growth and success of the firm depends on the relationships we cultivate, the innovative and creative nature of our ideas, the quality and craft of our work, and the long-term satisfaction of our clients. We approach every residential project the same way: by listening first. Our process starts with getting to know you and your vision, identifying goals, potential challenges, and budget.

From our initial meeting and site visit, we use what we learn to create a custom, detailed proposal. This includes your design goals and focus spaces, estimated time and fees for our design work, and potential items you may wish to add or consider. Once you approve the proposal, we finalize the contract and get to work.

For every project, big or small, we bring technical rigor, material thoughtfulness, and a collaborative design process to create a space that reflects how you actually live. Follow along for the next step in our residential design process.

A look at Saint Paul Residence—a proposed design that responds directly to the site's constraints.

To accommodate the tight, narrow, and extremely steep lot, we used a stacked, simple approach with three stories of utility, living, and sleeping. The home is designed with a dark, textured exterior that contrasts with the light interior, drawing on Scandinavian modern influences for a modern yet contextual result.

Our renderings provide a useful design tool to preview how the home would sit on such a complex site.

Our Comstock Collection, as seen on Mpls.St.Paul Magazine.

"When NewStudio Architecture CEO and principal architect Adam Jarvi searched for outdoor furniture to outfit his midcentury cabin in Comstock, Wisconsin, he felt a little like Goldilocks: Everything aesthetically correct was too expensive; everything in his price range didn't look or feel right. And he knew clients were having the same problem."

So, he decided to design it himself. The result is the Comstock Collection, a line of sustainable outdoor furniture designed and handcrafted in-house by Adam Jarvi and Aaron Lorenz, using responsibly harvested, domestically sourced, thermally modified pine from our friends at Arbor Wood Co.

Our design process continues to advance alongside new technology, using 3D visualization to see what we've only imagined with our clients.

The Meadow House is a beautiful example of how we bring ideas to life. We were able to visualize how the home engages with its surroundings and is respectful of the landscape. The renderings help determine sight lines, use of natural stone, wood, and metal, unifying the home with its context.
