From the archives: 5 rooms, 1 Isanti cabin, and a whole lot of before & after. 🔄

We dug this past project out of the photo files, and it still makes us smile:
🍳 A busy oak kitchen became a bright one, with quartz counters, stainless appliances and a long island
🛋️ Brick and wood paneling gave way to light walls and new plank floors
🍽️ The dining area opened up and brightened
🛁 The original vanity was swapped for a tiled shower and a new vanity
🛏️ Knotty pine paneling was painted a soft white for a calm, airy bedroom

What does a full day on an addition look like? Here's ours, front to back. 🔨

Up top, the crew tied the new roofline into the existing house. The walls are sheathed and closed in, and inside the layout went from plans on the floor to freshly framed walls, one careful cut at a time.

Big thanks to the crew for an all-hands-on-deck kind of day. 💪

Blast from the past, double edition: where are you spending your Saturday? ☀️

1️⃣ Up top: a rooftop patio from a past project, where we added a horizontal wood privacy fence. It turned an open roof into a cozy hangout with a skyline view.
2️⃣ Indoors: an open main floor from a past Minneapolis remodel, with wide plank floors, a built-in buffet under stained-glass windows, and a kitchen island ready for snacks. 🛋️

Throwback clip, fresh advice: 3 plumbing to-dos before Minnesota's first hard freeze. ❄️

This footage is from a past bathroom remodel, back when we sweated new copper lines into a shower valve before the walls closed up. Those pipes were safe inside a heated wall. The ones outside your house aren't so lucky.

1️⃣ Disconnect garden hoses. A hose left on can trap water in the faucet, where it freezes and can crack the pipe.
2️⃣ Shut off and drain outdoor faucets. If yours has an indoor shut-off valve, close it, then open the outside spigot to let it drain. Frost-free spigots still need the hose off.
3️⃣ Find your main water shut-off before you ever need it in a hurry, and tag it so everyone at home knows where it is.
