It literally started in the backyard.

Three years ago today, I painted the first mural on our backyard shed, made some business cards, threw together a flyer and decided to see where this thing could go.

I definitely didn’t know then.

Three years later, Backyard Muralz has taken me to places and walls I never could have imagined when I was sitting on a tarp in the backyard with a roll of blue tape and a bunch of spray paint.

The best part has been all the people who have been part of it along the way. Everyone who handed me a wall, picked up a brush and painted alongside me, partnered on a project, shared an idea, made an introduction, recommended me, shared my work, followed along or just showed up and supported this crazy adventure. Thank you. Seriously. Every bit of it has helped turn one mural into the next.

Backyard Muralz may have started in the backyard, but it sure didn’t stay there.

Happy 3 years. 🤙

3 years. 3 murals that mean a little something extra.

With Backyard Muralz turning 3 tomorrow, I picked three projects that stand out from all the walls I’ve painted along the way.

One because it was a first. My first commercial mural in St. Pete and, at nearly 2,000 sq. ft., still the biggest mural I’ve painted.

One because it was personal. Getting to return to my alma mater, Western Michigan University, and paint alongside students and staff at the Gwen Frostic School of Art was a pretty special full-circle moment.

And one because of where it led. What started with multiple murals for Amazon opened the door to more brand projects, new opportunities and community work.

Three murals for three very different reasons, but all three are a pretty big part of the Backyard Muralz story.

Tomorrow makes 3. 🤙

This was such a fun mural to bring to life for Delphi Academy of Florida!

Inspired by the classic Reading Rainbow intro song, I imagined a world where dragons lived along the Gulf Coast and loved to read. Working closely with the Delphi team, we transformed that idea into a custom mural featuring their Dragon mascot, school colors, and branding throughout the space.

A huge thank you to Regan McCreight for your help on this project and for absolutely crushing the stairwell fireball! 🔥

Excited to share my latest mural! This majestic blue heron stands tall against a dreamy sunset that melts into white of home. I also added garden-inspired flowers from the butterfly mural at the base to tie both murals together.

I would love to recreate this mural on a large scale on the side of a commercial building!

Just finished creating a vibrant bouquet inspired by the homeowners' garden! I also recreated their signature 3-circle trellis and added a few playful butterflies fluttering through the open space. Love how these special touches bring the mural to life!

Dive into the adventure! This nursery transformation features a cool turtle with sunglasses, inspired by Crush from Finding Nemo, cruising above the crib with friends! Complete with a couple of mini murals, including a school of fish and circling sharks.

More hurricane-force winds rolled through the Amazon DSR8 Delivery Station this past week!

Check out this stunning sunset mural, complete with vibrant palm trees swaying in the breeze and incredible waves brought to life by Regan McCreight!

We wrapped up another awesome employee engagement project for , bringing even more color—and a true Florida vibe—to welcome our associates!

Thank you to Pro Fleet Vehicle Wraps and Signs coming through with vinyl lettering!

This was a fun mural to bring to life; it showcases Tampa Bay and downtown St. Petersburg as the sun rises over the bay. To add a fun twist and a nod to DSR8 Delivery Station company mascot, the Tropics, we painted hurricane-force winds with bending palms and huge waves, brought to life by Regan McCreight. To complete this mural, we created a custom company logo inspired by a tropical storm to proudly display DSR8.
