This evaporator coil has definitely seen better days.

Heavy corrosion and deterioration like this can happen from years of exposure to harsh conditions — and sometimes pet urine can accelerate the damage considerably.

Once a coil gets this bad, it’s not just ugly. Corrosion can eventually lead to refrigerant leaks, loss of efficiency, and an expensive repair.

Sometimes the equipment tells the whole story before we even hook up the gauges.
