Worried about the ash from the wildfires? The Willamette Valley is getting pretty congested with smoke from the fires. The ash accumulates on more surfaces than just our cars. Our plants get coated too. If there is too much ash build up, it can block the sun and clog the pores of the leaves. A gentle stream of water can wash off the ash. Don't try to power blast it. Gentle is best. Also, don't try to use a blower. It will blow the ash back up in the air and you could breathe it in. Generally wood ash is a great soil amendment, raising pH of the soil, BUT do we know it was only ash from trees? No. If you have enough of a layer of ash be able to scoop it up and dispose of it, that would be best.
