Brent David (Dave) Joslin was born on Sept. 7, 1959 to Brent and Judy Joslin in Lindsay, California. He was the oldest of three children. Along with his sisters, Katy and Ann, the family moved to Portland, Oregon in 1970. Dave attended Madison High School where he competed in the javelin on the state level. After graduation in 1977 he attended Ecola Bible College in Cannon Beach, Oregon where he met his wife, Beverly Villwock. They were married on November 17th, 1979 at Salt Creek Baptist church in Dallas, Oregon and lived in Portland where they were blessed with two sons, Brian and Andy. Dave worked for Portland General Electric on the survey crew until the family moved to Rickreall, Oregon where he farmed with his father in-law, Cecil Villwock on the family farm. Dave farmed until 1997 when he started his own business, Oregon Backflow Inc. And continued until he retired in September of 2019 due to health issues. His son Andy worked for him and has taken over the business.
Dave was a deer hunter and avid duck hunter building his own duck pond and blind on the farm accompanied by his dog Sam who he trained to fetch the birds. Later in life he and Bev took up rock hunting together and spent two months every winter in Quartzite, Arizona exploring on ATVs, rock hounding, attending rock shows and enjoying the friends they made there. He loved the desert and was planning on spending three months there again this winter. He not only collected rocks but had a shop where he cut and polished rocks. He built his own saw from a YouTube tutorial that made the rocks into spheres. The family joke was that he and Bev never found a rock they didn't like. He was a Nascar enthusiast and was thrilled when he was able to attend a Nascar Race in Arizona one year. Dave and the family attended Salt Creek Baptist Church for several years and then were active in working with the youth at Faith Free Evangelical Church in Dallas, Oregon. He also helped with the beginnings of Camp Attitude in Foster, Oregon. He and Bev attended Salem Alliance Church in later years. His faith was very important to him and he talked a lot about God's love and grace. He had come to accept his heart condition and was trusting God for each day.
He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his wife Bev, son Brian (Kristel), son Andy (Jessica) and grandson Noah, his parents Brent and Judy, and sister Katy Joslin Wahlstrom (David) and nieces Lindsay Wahlstrom Darr, Lauren Wahlstrom, and sister Ann Joslin, his cousin Dee Wilson (Vicki) and their children Jonathan and Elizabeth and cousin Scott Wilson. He loved family and getting together with everyone for holidays, birthdays, camping trips and just hanging out.
