REVEAL TIME 💥

This kitchen started as something my wife and I knew had potential… we just didn’t rush to define it.

When we first moved in, we didn’t fully know how we’d use the space — how we’d cook, gather, host, and live in it day to day. So instead of jumping straight into a remodel, we took our time. We prioritized other projects, lived in the house, and paid attention to what we actually needed.

And this… is that potential brought to life — intentionally, thoughtfully, and even better than we first imagined.

This project is a great reminder that budget-friendly doesn’t mean cutting corners — sometimes it just means working in phases.

We started with paint and flooring to completely shift the feel of the space. Then, when the timing was right, we tackled the countertops alongside the kitchen remodel — being intentional about when and how each piece came together.

That approach made the process more manageable, more strategic, and ultimately more impactful.

The goal here was simple: make a big impact without overspending.

By keeping the existing cabinets and focusing on the right upgrades — new countertops, updated flooring, and refreshed hardware — we were able to completely transform this early 2000s honey maple space into something bright, clean, and modern… with just the right touch of vintage character.

Proof that you don’t always need a full gut to create a space you love — just the right vision and thoughtful ex*****on.

Been working hard on this kitchen remodel, and today marks a big milestone… COUNTERTOP INSTALLATION DAY! 💪🏽

This one hits different — because it’s not just any project… it’s our kitchen. And even more meaningful, it’s a space I’ve had the opportunity to create for my wife — something she’s dreamed about for a long time. That alone makes every long day and late night worth it.

This project has been full of learning, grit, and a whole lot of wins along the way. 👏🏽

🎯 Of course, there are the big transformations — lowering the bar top for a more modern look, installing a new sink, and reworking the layout to maximize cabinet space and storage.

But what really brings a kitchen together are the details most people don’t see…

💥Moving and installing outlets for better functionality.

💥Building custom wine cabinetry into the island for added support and style.

💥Designing and building cabinets for a cleaner, more modern look.

💥Taking wasted, open space and turning it into something purposeful.

Because it’s not just about the visible work — it’s about precision. Making sure every measurement is right, down to an eighth of an inch.

I’m incredibly grateful for the chance to keep learning, to challenge both my strength and my mind, and to build something that truly matters — especially when it’s for the people I love most.

From overgrown and unmaintained… to functional and beautiful. 🌿🪨

This space went from a forgotten front yard to a true garden oasis — built with intention from the ground up. Setting grade, laying pavers, and cutting precise corners were just a few of the highlights that brought this project to life.

Proof that with the right plan, patience, and craftsmanship, even the most unused spaces can become something you love coming home to.

This photo takes me back to one of the most defining projects in my journey — building this stone patio with my dad. 🪨

What started as an unused, overgrown patch of our front yard became a full transformation. But more than that, it became the foundation of my learning and my passion for home projects. 💡

This job was all about setting grade and building something solid from the ground up — literally and figuratively. As we uncovered what was beneath the surface, I learned how to pivot, problem-solve, and keep going when the project threw curveballs.

This wasn’t just laying stones.
It was hand digging. 🪏
Setting grade.
Installing a sprinkler system. 💦
Lifting 80-pound retaining blocks one by one. 💪🏽
Cutting stone, learning to work with cement, and discovering the satisfaction of doing things the right way. 💯

But the best part? The confidence I built along the way — in my skills, in my passion, and in the realization that I genuinely love this work.

That overgrown space turned into a beautiful stone patio with a reverse retaining wall… and it also turned into the foundation of everything that led me to start JT1. 🩵

Wondering why we’re called Just the One — or JT1? The story behind the name is one I’m proud of.

On the surface, Just the One is simple: in a world full of contractors and handymen, we aim to be just the one you call — reliable, committed, and fully invested in every project we take on.

But the name goes deeper than that.

My dad, Joe, has been in the contracting world for over 40 years. His first company was J&T Construction, named for Joe & Tyler. And coincidentally, my own initials are TJ — the same two letters, just swapped.

So when we were building this business, keeping the “JT” felt natural. It honors the craft, the mentorship, and the years of hands-on learning passed from father to son. It carries forward the letters that shaped how I learned to build.

And that’s how JT1 was born — a name rooted in reliability, family, and the belief that when you choose us, you’re choosing the one contractor fully dedicated to getting your project done right.
