Some of our most frequent questions we answer lately:
1. Do people want more kitchens these days that are painted or stained?
- from what we’ve seen, typically people are into those white/ or grey paint colors a lot of times with accenting in some natural or stained woodgrain looks that add a pop here and there. But in our situation… with being known as “Sterling Bundy’s daughter” people want me to match something he did 30+ years ago to add onto a space….or continue the same color scheme through the house.
2. We know you do custom cabinets but what if my space needs a cabinet that is 36 3/4 wide… do you just do standard sizes? ….Like 36” or can you build a cabinet that’s actually 36 3/4”?
- when we say we build custom cabinets…. That’s exactly what we mean! We have “standards” for plywood thicknesses and dimensional lumbar thicknesses because of quality purposes but as far as making a cabinet that’s 36” vs. 36 3/16” wide…. It doesn’t make us one bit of difference… we make your cabinets for you! To fit YOUR space!
3. / 4. Do you use the same machines your dad had? …. And build them the same way?
- I only actually have 1 machine that my dad had and have actually had to have it rebuilt as it needed some attention to get it up to run at the standard that I needed it to….
- my dad had a computerized router that in my opinion was a huge factor on how our cabinets were built years ago… I was always told that machine was 1 of 4 in the United States…. Not sure exactly where that statistic came originally from but it was something my dad always told me…. With that, we build our cabinets today a little different but still with high quality and standards to make our custom cabinets last generations just the same as I’m always hearing stories of how people are still in love with their kitchens my dad built them 20-30+ years ago!
- one key factor that plays into this is that I’ve had some great mentors over the years! Growing up in a cabinet business, typical processes become instinct. Working in a custom cabinet shop in Alabama gave me new perspectives and taught me more than I ever expected about wood, cabinets, accessories, designs, and techniques. Also, over the years I’ve met some awesome resources that are a wealth of knowledge! All these resources put together have shaped me and how I’ve created this business!
