OBITUARY
Stephen Ray Cravinho
MARCH 16, 1955 – AUGUST 6, 2025
Steven Ray Cravinho, 70, departed this world August 6, 2025. Steve was born on March 16, 1955, in Salem, Oregon. A proud Marine Corps veteran, Steve lived a life rooted in integrity, resilience, and quiet strength. Through his military service, he learned the importance of doing hard things, even the ones he never thought he could. That lesson stayed with him and shaped the man he became.
Steve had a strong faith in the Lord. His belief was a meaningful and steady part of who he was, reflected in his values, his relationships, and the way he carried himself—with humility, compassion, and quiet confidence.
He found deep peace in the outdoors, especially in the remote beauty of southeast Oregon and The Steens Mountains. He loved to fish and felt most at home in the wild, quiet places. But it was in the sky where Steve felt truly free. Flying his single-engine land plane wasn’t just a pastime, it was the fulfillment of a dream. To be among the clouds, away from the noise of the world, gave him a sense of accomplishment and serenity that he cherished.
Steve was dedicated to doing things right. Having devoted over 40 years in the landscaping business taking care of his customers was always a top priority. Those who worked with him respected his honesty, reliability, and strong work ethic.
He is survived by his wife Linda Vickery Cravinho; his son Vincent Edmund Shane Cravinho, Vincent’s mother Sally Byrd Cravinho; his step-son Alex Vickery-Holland (& Daniela), his step-daughter Emily Parrish Vickery and his loyal canine companion, Wally.
He was preceded in death by his parents Edmund and Doris Cravinho. He is survived by his sister Terese Cravinho of Salem, his sister Karen Cravinho Stratton (& Lance) of La Grande, his sister Deb Martinmaas (& Mike) of Shaw, his sister Jeanine Eschelbach (& Matt) of Bend, his sister Linda Jaeger (& Tom) of Salem, his brother Michael Cravinho (&Teresa) of Tualatin, and his sister Annmarie Grant (& Byron) of Salem. Steve was a favorite uncle to many nieces, nephews, and grand nieces & nephews who will always remember his warmth, humor, and gentle spirit.
Steve’s life was marked by generosity, integrity, faith, and a deep love for the land and the people he held dear. He will be remembered for the steadiness of his spirit, the freedom he found in flight, and the love he shared with those around him.
A funeral service and reception will be held at St.Edwards Catholic Church in Keizer, OR Tuesday, August 19th at 10am. All are welcome to attend.
