With a foot of fresh snow there probably aren't too many children playing on this deck. However, during the summer months this large opening presents an opportunity for a small child to fall from the deck. Some additional balusters or spindles are needed.

Flexible drain line connectors are a potential source of leaks. This almost always indicates a DIY project. This might be fine for a temporary repair, but it should always be replaced by a professional plumber.

Check your gutters twice a year. Gutters that are full of decomposing leaves and debris not only prevent good drainage, but carrying the extra weight for a prolonged period of time can cause the fasteners to pull out. This gutter is getting closer and closer to falling right off the house.

Modern pressure-treated lumber is very corrosive to galvanized steel screws, bolts and hardware. When you combine high copper content in the lumber with zinc and steel in the hardware conditions are perfect for galvanic corrosion.

This exhaust pipe for a high efficiency furnace is only about an inch away from the clapboards. Alot of moisture is vented through this pipe during the winter. That's going to result in more frequent maintenance to the paint in this area. Vent piping should always be directed away from the siding.

Connection hardware and fasteners for exterior decks must be able to resist corrosion. In this photo the improper fasteners are corroding. Red rust is visible on the joist hanger. This connection is failing and needs to be repaired.

At first glance, this looks like someone just left the handheld shower dangling in the tub. In reality, this is actually a type of cross connection in the plumbing system. Under the right conditions a backflow could siphon contamiants from the tub into the water supply piping for the home. Would you want to potentially drink tub water? The answer is to purchase a shorter water line or install a vacuum breaker.
