During a recent job in Sunriver, Zane found that this second-story railing had never been properly fastened to the post. Over time, it had started to sag.

It may not have looked like a major problem, but on a second story, a railing that isn’t properly secured can become a serious safety concern.

Zane clamped the railing back into position and added the fasteners needed to properly secure it to the post. It was a quick repair that could have prevented a much bigger problem.

Now it’s secure, sturdy, and ready for another 20+ years.

Taking care of the little things around a home isn’t always about how they look. Sometimes, it’s about making sure the people who use the space are safe.

Luke wasn’t expecting to find this under a client’s home.

During a recent quarterly maintenance visit, he discovered a cat in the crawlspace.

The cat had found an opening underneath the home and gotten inside. Luke was able to give it a safe way out, then secured the opening to keep rodents and other unwanted visitors from getting in.

Had the cat gone unnoticed, it could have damaged insulation, disturbed the v***r barrier, or gotten into ductwork.

Thankfully, the cat got out safely and a potential problem for the homeowner was caught early.

We appreciate the opportunity to help when we notice something unexpected during a quarterly maintenance visit. For us, taking good care of a home means paying attention to more than just the task in front of us.

Here’s what goes into a Kaufman Maintenance quarterly visit.

For this 3rd quarter visit, Luke inspected the plumbing, cleaned and replaced furnace filters, tested smoke and CO detectors, checked exhaust fans, doors and windows, and replaced light bulbs where needed.

Regular maintenance helps take care of the things that can easily get overlooked and catch small issues before they become bigger ones.

And every once in a while, you find something that wasn’t on the checklist. 🐝

While doing a quarterly maintenance visit for one of our clients last week, we uncovered an extreme amount of built-up dryer lint.

Lint buildup can restrict airflow, make your dryer work harder, and become a serious fire hazard if it’s allowed to accumulate.

If you haven’t had your dryer vent checked or cleaned in a while, this is your reminder.
