is owned and operated by August DeLarue in Salida, CO and was founded in 2014. We provide custom home building services and consultation to our customers in the Upper Arkansas River Valley area of Colorado. We are most passionate about building science, energy efficiency, communication, and helping you navigate the process of building your new home. August DeLarue was born in Hood River, OR and raised in Corrales, NM. He attended the US Coast Guard Academy where he met his wife, Ashley. After graduating from the CGA, August served 6 years Active Duty in the US Coast Guard as an officer, where he learned the most valuable skills that a homebuilder can have; organization, leadership, attention to detail, professionalism, and respect. After moving to Salida with his wife, August was fortunate to have the opportunity to learn and apprentice for Rich Edgington, a master homebuilder with over 25 years of experience. As an apprentice to Rich, August was able to manage and build over 65 homes for his customers, all the while honing his skills related to Building Science, Energy Efficiency, Organization, and Communication. Some in-progress photos of a home we are building in beautiful Nathrop, CO (in between Salida and Buena Vista)!

We were able to help design this custom home to take advantage of the sloping lot by incorporating a walk-out / daylight basement on the lower level.

The large windows off of the living room / kitchen provide tons of natural light and the deck off of the kitchen (partially covered) gives a ton of awesome outdoor living space.

So thankful to be able to work on these amazing projects in such a beautiful part of the world!

Some projects require more thought and innovation from our team than others...

This Passive House International-certified project meant rethinking details most builders never have to touch — wall assemblies built thicker and tighter than standard construction, window installations with tolerances measured in millimeters, and a level of airtightness that gets tested, not assumed.

That last part is the one that gets most builders every time: a blower door test, where the entire building envelope gets pressurized and every gap, every seam, every pe*******on gets checked. There’s nowhere to hide even the smallest leak. You either built it right, or the numbers tell on you.

Ours passed. 💪

This is the kind of craftsmanship we bring to every build — some projects just ask us to prove it in a more literal way.
