A kitchen remodel takes your kitchen offline for 3 to 5 weeks. Here is what that actually means and what to do about it.

Cooking stops on demo day. Set up a temporary kitchen before work starts: a folding table, microwave, mini-fridge, and electric griddle cover most meals.

Your morning routine changes. Identify what you depend on most and replicate it in the temp setup before day one.

Dust and noise spread beyond the kitchen. Close off adjacent rooms during demo week. It is the hardest stretch and it gets better quickly after.

Your storage disappears early. Box and label your kitchen contents before cabinets come out so the temp setup has what it needs.

What part of your routine would be hardest to give up for a few weeks?

Most people walk past their toe kick a hundred times a day and never think twice about it.

A toe kick is that small recessed space at the bottom of your cabinets, set back just enough so your feet fit underneath while you stand at the counter. It's a small design detail, but it does a lot of quiet work in your kitchen.

Here's what a toe kick actually does for you:

It lets you stand close to the counter without stubbing your toes on the cabinet base, which makes everyday tasks like cooking and washing dishes more comfortable. It hides the leveling legs that keep your cabinets sitting flush even on an uneven floor. And in some kitchens, that space doubles as extra storage with a slide out toe kick drawer, perfect for baking sheets, trays, or linens you don't need every day.

Small detail, big difference in how your kitchen actually functions.

Not all countertops are actually as thick as they look.

Countertop thickness usually ranges from 1cm up to 4cm and beyond, and each size changes how the counter performs, not just how it looks. Thinner slabs often need a wood board or hidden support underneath to hold their shape, especially anywhere they overhang the cabinets. Thicker slabs, 4cm and up, are sturdy enough to stand on their own and give that solid, straight edge without any tricks.

If your countertop edge looks chunky, it's worth asking what's actually underneath it. Sometimes it's solid stone, and sometimes it's a thinner slab built up to look that way.

What edge thickness are you leaning toward for your kitchen?

Working with us means having real options on hand, not just a couple of samples to pick from.

Through our vendors and suppliers, we have access to cabinet finishes, quartz and porcelain slabs, and wall and floor tile in almost every style you could want. Colors, textures, price points, all of it. That's what lets us bring real choices to your project instead of settling for whatever's easiest to source.

It also means we can match materials to your actual home, not just what's trending online. A busy pattern that works in one kitchen might overwhelm another, and having this many options on hand makes it easier to find the right fit the first time.

The more available to you, the easier it is to land on something that actually fits your home and your budget.

White shaker cabinets keep showing up in every kitchen search, and it's not just a trend thing.

They work with almost any layout, color palette, or hardware finish, which makes them one of the easiest styles to build a whole kitchen around. This one pairs the classic white shaker door with matte black pulls and a black faucet for contrast, keeping the space feeling bright without looking flat.

If you're considering this style, here's what to think about:

1. Hardware finish makes a bigger difference than people expect. Black or matte finishes add contrast, while brass or nickel keeps things softer.

2. Door style changes the whole feel. A five piece shaker door reads more traditional, while a slab style shaker leans modern.

3. Paint color matters as much as the cabinet style itself. Pure white shows more contrast with dark countertops, while an off white softens the whole room.

Save this one for when you start picking finishes.

The Kitchen Triangle is 80 years old. Most kitchens are not.

The rule connected your fridge, stove, and sink in a triangle to cut down on wasted steps. When one person cooked one meal in a simple kitchen, it worked.

Today's kitchens have multiple cooks, islands, coffee stations, and second fridges. The triangle does not account for any of that.

What replaced it: zone-based design. A prep zone. A cooking zone. A cleanup zone. Each one designed to work on its own and connect to the others, so two people can cook at once without getting in each other's way.

What does a typical weeknight look like in your kitchen?

Choosing bathroom flooring comes down to more than just what looks good.

It also affects durability, maintenance, and how the whole room feels day to day. Here are a few of the most popular options and what each one brings to the table.

1. Large-format tile: Fewer grout lines mean less cleaning and a cleaner overall look, since grout is usually where dirt and mildew build up first. The larger tiles also make a smaller bathroom feel more open, since your eye isn't broken up by a lot of seams.

2. Herringbone tile: The angled, zigzag pattern adds texture and movement, turning the floor into a design feature instead of just a surface underfoot. It works especially well in bathrooms that don't have a lot of other bold details, since the pattern carries the look on its own.

3. Wood-look waterproof LVP: This gives you the warmth and look of real wood without the risk. Traditional hardwood doesn't hold up well to moisture, but waterproof LVP is built to handle splashes, spills, and humidity without warping.

Same bathroom, three different floors, three completely different vibes.

A bathroom mirror does more than reflect your face. The shape you choose changes the whole feel of the room, and each style brings something different.

Rectangular mirrors are the classic choice for a reason. They fit almost any vanity, work in nearly any bathroom style, and give the space a clean, balanced look without trying too hard.

Asymmetrical mirrors bring a little more personality into the room. The irregular shape adds visual interest and works well when you want the mirror itself to feel like a design detail, not just a fixture.

Frameless mirrors keep things simple and modern. Without a border pulling focus, the mirror blends into the wall and lets the rest of the bathroom, like tile or lighting, stand out more.

Same vanity, same lighting, but the mirror shape can completely change how a bathroom feels.

Every material decision in a bathroom has a humidity-driven answer.

Cabinets: choose a plywood box with moisture-resistant coating over MDF, which absorbs and swells.

Paint: choose semi-gloss or satin finish over flat or matte, which absorb moisture and grow mold.

Grout: seal it, and waterproof the wall behind it first. Unsealed grout lets moisture through to the structure.

Hardware: choose PVD-coated finishes over standard chrome, which flakes with daily moisture exposure.

None of these cost dramatically more. All of them last dramatically longer.

Which of these decisions did you not know humidity affected?

Cabinet style is one of the biggest factors in how a kitchen feels, and each option brings something different to the table.

Shaker cabinets have a simple, recessed panel frame that's clean without being plain. They work with almost any design, from farmhouse to modern, which is part of why they're the most requested style we install.

Raised panel cabinets have more depth and detail, with a panel that sits higher than the frame around it. This gives the kitchen a more traditional, classic look, and it tends to show off wood grain and craftsmanship a little more.

Slab cabinets are completely flat with no panel or detail at all. They're the most minimal option and give a kitchen a clean, modern edge, especially in lighter or bold colors.

Same cabinet boxes, three completely different personalities. The style you choose sets the tone for the whole kitchen.
