☀️ Heat Wave Incoming! Here's What to Expect from Your Air Conditioner 🥵❄️
The forecast is calling for several days of high temperatures and oppressive humidity. During weather like this, your air conditioner will likely run much longer than normal.. and that's actually a good sign!
Many homeowners worry when their system seems to run all day, but air conditioners are designed to do exactly that during extreme heat. They're working hard to remove both heat and humidity from your home.
If your thermostat is set to 74° and your home slowly rises to 75° or 76° during the hottest part of the afternoon, don't panic. Your system may simply be operating at its maximum capacity. Without air conditioning, indoor temperatures would climb much higher.
Here are a few simple ways to help your system perform its best:
✅ Replace or clean your air filter if it's due.
A dirty filter restricts airflow and makes your system work harder.
✅ Keep blinds and curtains closed on sunny windows.
Blocking direct sunlight helps keep unwanted heat outside.
✅ Avoid adjusting the thermostat.
Setting it lower won't cool your home faster; it only causes your system to run longer.
✅ Limit heat inside the house.
If possible, avoid using the oven, dryer, or other heat-producing appliances during the hottest part of the day.
✅ Be patient.
Your system will usually begin catching up once the sun goes down and outdoor temperatures start to drop.
⚠️ When should you call for service?
If your system isn't cooling at all, is blowing warm air, is making unusual noises, or your indoor temperature continues to climb significantly, give us a call. Those are signs something may actually be wrong.
Stay cool, stay hydrated, and don't forget to check on your neighbors, pets, and anyone who may be more vulnerable during the heat.
