Work in progress on a full basement remodel. Starting from scratch. I did everything from waterproofing to flooring to electrical to trim. Highly customized with the coolest part of the room being the exposed steel beam which is framed in mirrored tile with an alcove for led lights.

Basement remodel project. As you can see from the pictures acquired from Zillow, this basement was outdated and, quite frankly, an eyesore and everything had to go. The carpet, drop ceiling, and fluorescent were torn out. The floors were replaced with laminate and the ceiling with sheetrock which added several precious inches of headspace to an otherwise claustrophobic space. Two walls were framed to create a bedroom and closet. The mirrored doors of the closet add tons of light and a sense of spaciousness. The entry to the bedroom is a double pocket door, which, when framed by columns and crown moulding, compliments the existing fireplace. The new space is a far cry from what it was and I am really very proud of the finished result.

Custom Gate Installation. The client wanted to replace the chain link gate on the side of their house with something beautiful and simple that matched the aesthetic of their house. Using Solidworks, I modelled and planned out the project ahead of time. Designing this way ultimately saves me a lot of time and mental energy calculating my cuts. The frame is 4x4 pine braced with steel shelf brackets. The panels are pine with custom shiplap joints. As you can imagine, this gate is heavy and, with all the joinery, incredibly solid.

This one was a doozy. Staircases tend to be that way. This is a full rebuild. I tore out the old carpeted staircase and guardrails and rebuilt it. Everything came together though solid and square. I'm particularly proud of the half overlay post at the base of the staircase.

I installed a second handrail to this 100 year staircase. The matriarch of this multi generational household just needed a little extra support to safely navigate the stairs. Houses like this offer unique and unpredictable challenges. That rail is sturdy enough to dance on.

A little journey into the biggest project so far this year. A client wanted to add a closet to his house. When we look inside, we can see why it was unused. There is ducting and electrical and, most importantly, trusses in the way. After consulting an engineer, we decided to leave the trusses in place and build around them. The walls were framed and insulated. LVT flooring was installed. Tongue and groove cedar planks line the left and right walls and the ceiling. The other walls have sheetrock. The back wall and the trusses painted a color to bring out the cedar and the wall around the door painted white to bounce more light in the closet. Finally. The door and the trim could be installed with a small threshold between the LVT and the carpet. A big project, and just the sort of thing that I love to do. I'm very happy with how it came out and the cedar smells amazing.
