Building a cohesive team takes work—and play! From jobsite BBQs to holiday parties, we believe it’s important to take time to have fun together as a team.

Last week two of our branches had their annual summer party 🎉In Denver, employees and their families enjoyed a picnic and games at Anthem Community Park, while our St. George team relaxed at Crush Golf + Grill.

Keeping everyone safe on the jobsite is about more than legal compliance or adding extra rules. It requires a true culture of safety that runs so deep it affects team members’ actions even when no one is looking.

A few things Hunt Electric has learned about safety culture over 40 years in business as an electrical contractor include:

1) Start on Day 1 – Make safety a core part of New Hire Orientation. It’s an opportunity to set the expectation that no one cuts corners on safety to get a job done faster, and every team member has the shared obligation to “see something say something” and stop unsafe work.

2) Refocus Daily – We require each team member in the field to fill out a hazard awareness form at the start of every shift, increasing awareness of potential dangers such as sharp edges or trades working overhead.

3) Train Well and Often – Carefully tracking what training team members have received and making it easier for them to receive further training and certifications through the company keeps the safety mindset fresh.

Hunt Electric’s High Voltage Division supports grid stability and mission-critical operations through our substation construction and upgrade services.

Recently the team completed a project in rural Nevada that included the 138kV Raptor Substation, Long Drive Switchyard, and 3.5 miles of new 138kV transmission line. Most of the transmission line construction took place in the median between two active highways, requiring careful coordination and disciplined construction sequencing to keep everyone safe while minimizing disruptions to traffic flow.

Our High Voltage crews are trained for energized work. We have the equipment and workforce to be fully self-performing, and we offer integrated control house delivery through Hunt Electric’s in-house manufacturing division, ICC Manufacturing.

This is what it looks like when a service call takes you to the top of the tallest commercial building in the state.

From building tops to mountaintops and everything in between, Hunt Electric’s service team is ready with 24/7 on-demand service and preventative maintenance that keeps important electrical systems humming along. In this case, our team was working on replacing lights at the top of Astra Tower in downtown Salt Lake City.

Sometimes two teams are better than one.

Recently our Industrial, Automation & Controls Division teamed up with our ICC Manufacturing team to build a control van for one of their sand and gravel surface mining clients. Letting ICC handle the motor control center and other hardware freed up the industrial team to focus on perfecting the user interface.

This was the first time the two divisions collaborated on a project like this, but the benefits were clear. As Strategic Account Manager Bryan Martin and Senior Project Manager Shane Benhoff shared in this video, look for more joint projects in the future!

Our team had a great time at the Utah Best of State awards ceremony last night! It was an honor to accept our fourth Best of State award in the Electrical Services category.

The night was a reminder of how many exceptional businesses and organizations Utah has to offer. We’re grateful for the opportunities that Hunt Electric has found during 40 years of business here, and for the projects that allow us to help the next generation of Utah businesses grow.

Low voltage upgrades to an active manufacturing facility take careful planning, but our Technology Division is always up to the challenge. At the Ocean Spray Cranberry bottling plant in Henderson, NV the team provided a full access point (AP) replacement to support new equipment while the facility continued its processing and packaging operations.

We deployed 10-12 technicians to the project, working on a highly accelerated schedule of about six weeks from start to finish. The result is a more efficient, connected facility.
