Every apprentice is going to have tough days, dirty days, frustrating days, and days where nothing goes according to plan. The apprentices who show up ready to learn, work hard, and keep a positive attitude are the ones who go the farthest. We can teach the rest!

Our pre-apprentice Garrett’s first day in the field came with a surprise spray of mud while he was busy breaking up boulders, but he had a great attitude about it and jumped right back in (after some good-natured ribbing from his team, of course).

At Hunt Electric, we love watching our apprentices and pre-apprentices get their hands dirty and learn new skills!

The ribbon has been cut on another project for our northern Colorado branch! They worked hard on the new Larimer County Sheriff's Office Emergency Services Building, which was finished in just one year. It will improve safety for Larimer County residents by facilitating improved training opportunities and serving as a home base for specialty teams such as wildland firefighters and Search and Rescue.

The 33,000 square foot building includes offices, maintenance/vehicle storage bays, dormitories for first responders, and training space. Hunt Electric worked closely with the sheriff's office to fulfill all lighting and power requirements, and our technology team provided DAS services to ensure uninterrupted communications for first responders throughout the building.

Thank you to JE Dunn Construction for their partnership on this project. And congratulations to Hunt’s team including superintendent Chris Navas, project manager Brandon Sarff, and northern Colorado branch manager Tony Franklin for a job well done.

A healthy electrical system is important to the safety and productivity of any facility. If the health of your system is one of worries that keeps you up at night, Infrared (IR) scanning can give you peace of mind by offering a non-invasive way to catch failing equipment long before it creates a serious problem.

An IR scan of a building uses thermal imaging to identify electrical equipment that is hotter or cooler than expected. These variations in temperature, invisible to the naked eye, can signal that the equipment is not working as it should. It can catch problems such as:

• Loose or corroded connections
• Insulation deficiencies
• Worn-out components that are headed toward failure
• Unbalanced loads
• Overheating fuses or other components

Through Hunt Electric’s digital records platform, technicians completing the scan can provide reporting twice as fast as a standard IR scanning service. Information from the scans is automatically synced with each piece of equipment’s digital service record. Clients can also easily view the entire system online anytime rather than locating paper records or flash drives.

If you’re ready to get a full diagnostic report of your facility’s electrical health and get a plan in place to address any issues, give Hunt Electric a call or learn more about IR scanning in the link in the comments.

Congratulations to our Colorado and St. George teams for their recent awards from Engineering News-Record!

Hunt Electric received an Award of Merit for Specialty Construction for the new Particle Measuring Systems regional facility in Niwot, Colorado. The hub’s state-of-the-art laboratories are built to provide contamination monitoring for critical industries and foster innovative solutions. Through proactive design-assist involvement, meticulous project management, and innovative construction techniques, our team delivered reliable power and complex electrical solutions with DLR Group under the leadership of Swinerton.

Hunt Electric also received the Award of Merit for the Cultural/Worship category for our work on the newly renovated America First Performing Arts Center at Utah Technical University in St. George. We worked with Layton Construction and Sparano + Mooney Architecture to transform the space into a more comfortable, high-tech experience that can accommodate larger audiences and more complicated productions. We are so excited to see the first performance at the opening night celebration on Aug. 28!

Congratulations again to everyone that Hunt Electric worked with on these projects!

“I can’t imagine why anyone wouldn’t enjoy working with their hands and building cool stuff.”

Nine years after Matt Boyd started his journey as an electrician at Mountainland Technical College, he has come full circle as foreman of Hunt Electric’s work on MTECH’s expansion in Payson. Listen to what he had to say about the experience, why he loves his job, and his advice for new electrical apprentices.

One month left to sign up for this year’s American Heart Association Heart & Stroke Walk in Utah! Hunt Electric is proud to step up for hope and health as a sponsor of this year’s walk and you’re invited to join us.

Heart attacks and strokes are the leading cause of death in the United States, and those in the construction industry are at even greater risk than the general public. For many at Hunt Electric, it’s personal, which is why we are joining others in Utah to support a future where everyone enjoys a longer, healthier life with the people they love.

The walk is Saturday morning, Sept. 19 at Sugarhouse Park in Salt Lake City. You can become a supporter of lifesaving research, treatments, and CPR training by joining our Hunt Hearts in Motion team or donating to the team. Learn more in the link in the comments!
