our lead climber and more importantly, husband to Florentina
Marie and father to Myra and Helena. Prior to his last seven
years in fire

suppression, he traveled exploring rivers. Moreover,
having a knack for knots and technical rope rescue he excelled
as a class V guide. Naturally, Marie and Ben met boating on the
rivers in Six Rivers National Forest. When the world changed in 2020 the family knew their trajectory in life would also change. They moved from coastal Humboldt to where they would be close to the river again. Both are advocates for our land, our waterways, and for working together with nature to mitigate the effects of natural disasters. Marie runs the office and Ben runs the crew. Ben runs the crew and Marie runs the office. We adhere to ANSI Z133 Safety and ANSI A300 pruning standards. Contractor LIC #1098522

First day of the Tsnungwe project. They won a PG&E ingress/ egress fuels reduction grant and chose us to complete the work. The elders were so impressed with our crews last year on a similar project they wrote us into this grant.

Tsnungwe is a Hupa speaking Native American tribe located at the base of the South Fork of the Trinity River, Burnt Ranch, and Denny areas in Humboldt and Trinity Counties. Find out more about them at https://www.facebook.com/TsnungweTribe?mibextid=wwXIfr

Tomorrow May 1 2026, it’s burn permit time in Humboldt & Trinity Counties. It’s a great time to chip instead of burn. Broadcast chips have benefits and disadvantages. Disadvantage is it can make it harder to do a prescribed burn in the area the next season. Benefits, it puts organic matter back into your land and could improve your soil health. Another benefit is it breaks up fuels into smaller digestible pieces so the fungi can do the rest.
