Not sure what size gutter you need? Educate yourself & don’t be taken advantage of!
A 5-inch seamless aluminum gutter is widely used in some areas of the country however, 6-inch gutters and 7-inch gutters are becoming increasingly popular. A 6” gutter can hold almost 50% more water than a 5” gutter system & drains much quicker! But it holds more water? Wouldn’t it take longer to drain? NO.
The differences between 5-inch, 6-inch, and 7-inch gutters are their size, and the capacity of water they can hold. In cases where you often experience heavy rainfall and/or rainwater is continually overshooting your gutter system, a 6” gutter or 7″ gutter system may be the best for your home. In addition, the 6” & 7” gutter systems are paired with a 3x4 or 4x5 downspout helping with water management. The water flow that these gutters will produce with a 4” outlet makes it very difficult to clog & overflow.
In addition to climate; the roofline, surface area, and pitch of your roof are important factors in determining if you should install a 5-inch, 6-inch, or 7-inch gutter system. Here in Texas we experience some heavy rainfall, & most times it’s unpredictable. & because of that we do not offer 5” gutters. A gutter system that can’t keep up with the storms will cause more damage than good. When your downspouts are clogged & your gutters are full that water still has to go somewhere & most times it’s right back under your roofline or damaging your siding.
