Here are some very important tips to follow when contracting with any company, for any kind of work;
1. Do some research. Questions like how long have they been in business, are they local, do they have references, etc. go along way to protecting you and your house.
2. Do not give any money upfront. You lose all control and I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard stories where that ended badly. When you pay them upfront, they show up when they want or if they want.
3. The “contracts” the guys who come knocking on your door pressuring you into signing do not hold any weight in a court of law. Even if you signed something you are not obligated to do business with them especially if they pressured you into signing any documents without having all the information.
4. Many of the guys that come door-to-door are contract salesman for companies out of town. A very good indication of this practice is having company magnets on the side of their cars, not being in a truck, for example I see a lot of guys in sedans, SUVs, minivans, etc.
5. Another indication of an out-of-town roofing contractor is having a 1-800 number.
Champion Roofing is locally owned and operated for 14 years here in San Antonio. We have a great reputation with our laborers, suppliers, builders, homeowners and other trades. Please consider these things when choosing a contractor for any job. I hate hearing about people losing out on money or having a roof that leaks and are unable to contact their contractor. Please protect yourselves.
