Your neighbor just found termites. Does that mean your home is next? 🏡
Not necessarily. But here's something worth knowing.
Subterranean termites live and forage underground, building networks of tunnels as they search for cellulose-containing materials like wood.
And those networks don't stop at fences or property lines.
Depending on the termite species, colony size, and environmental conditions, a colony's foraging area can extend across a substantial distance. That means neighboring properties can sometimes be exposed to activity from the same colony.
But finding termites next door doesn't automatically mean your home is infested.
What matters is whether termites have access to your structure and whether there are conditions that make it vulnerable.
Watch for mud tubes along foundations, discarded wings, unexplained wood damage, and moisture problems around the house.
The smartest move isn't to panic. It's to know what you're dealing with.
