Do you ever waste money on a service call because you did not know how to reset a breaker or GFCI receptacle?

Circuit breakers should be pushed all the way toward off to reset the mechanism before the can be turned back on.

GFCI receptacles have a test and reset button. You should unplug all cords before pushing the reset button. A screwdriver or the back end of a pencil can be used to push the reset button. If the button can be reset, but trips again after you plug back into it, then the device you are plugging in may be damaged or filled with water. GFCI receptacle may protect other receptacles, this is important to remember when unplugging cords to reset a GFCI device. These other receptacles may be located outside, in other rooms or restrooms. Motors (refrigerator/freezer) are notorious for wearing a GFCI device to a breaking point.
