Deck Repair Project Recap

What started as a simple deck repair turned into a full structural reinforcement. Initially, we were called in to replace a few rotted decking planks. However, once we began removing them, we discovered a much larger issue.

The deck’s foundation was severely compromised. The only thing supporting the entire width of the deck was a small stud resting on a concrete stone placed directly on dirt. Over time, rain and shifting soil caused the deck to become unlevel and unstable. Even more concerning, the joists running the length of the deck were laid directly on the ground with no support underneath, causing one side of the deck to lift off the ground entirely.

To properly stabilize the structure, we removed all of the old decking planks and reinforced the foundation. We added two central support beams running across the width of the deck. We also secured the perimeter by installing 4x4 pressure-treated posts, each set in concrete footings for long-term stability.

Now, the deck is not only level but built on a solid, secure foundation that will hold up for years to come.
