Did you know that Vegas produces about 5 billion pounds of unconsumed food each year? Unfortunately, the majority goes to landfills. Casinos, filled with a bevy of dining choices and endless all-you-can eat buffet options, contributes to food waste because of overproduction - primarily for these popular buffets and catering guarantees. These two sources alone contribute over 50% of food waste in hospitality and casino kitchens, which makes organic recycling the ideal solution. Did you know one of the industry’s first recycling plants opened in 1947? That’s nearly 80 years that recycling has been around and while great process has been made, there is still so much more we all can do to expand sustainability. For 10 years, we’ve made it our mission to replenish the earth by repurposing waste. Check out how we make soil from recycled organics: https://bit.ly/40zIvfM

Fascinating fact: used cooking oil can be recycled into biodiesel, which burns cleaner than petroleum-based diesel. Our 2023 Sustainability Report details the amount of biodiesel we produced last year avoided 103,885 metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e) emissions, which is comparable to the greenhouse gas emissions from driving an average gasoline-powered vehicle for 265,692,903 miles. Denali has teamed up with Walmart to deploy a new recycling process at thousands of stores and in most major U.S. cities. We have seen up to a 60% increase in the amount of food waste diverted from landfills and kept in the circular economy as animal feed, compost, and renewable energy.

Thanks to ambitious partners like Walmart, Denali is transforming food waste into a resource ♻️ .

Denali's process leverages depackaging - technology that efficiently separates packaging like plastic and cardboard from organics content. This replaces a time-intensive, manual process and frees store associates to spend more time helping customers.

Depackaging also allows stores to recycle all types of food in one step, including meat, dairy, frozen and liquid items, as well as produce. Thanks to this innovation, we expect to recycle about 200,000 pounds of food waste from each store that utilizes our depackaging services.

Read more about Denali's partnership with Walmart here:

Every Walmart facility has a part to play in operating more sustainably by making meaningful choices that increase efficiencies, reduce costs, and improve the experiences for our associates and customers. For our customers, sustainability comes to life through the services and products we offer, whi...
