How worried should I be about this? 😳

Anyone recognize this bolt from a 2018 Ford Edge? πŸ€” I just bought the car and found this during the first oil change.

It was loose under the driver's side, just behind the front wheel, held in only by the fabric panel underneath. Trying to figure out what it is and what the torque specs are to put it back properly.

Is there anything else I should be concerned with? πŸ”©πŸ”§

Not a head gasket, so what else could it be? πŸ€”

Got a weird coolant issue on my 2010 Subaru Forester (non-turbo) that has my husband and father-in-law stumped. πŸ€” The radiator keeps pushing coolant back into the overflow tank, filling it way beyond the full line after I drive it.

We just drained the system, replaced the thermostat, and put in fresh coolant, but it happened again. The head gaskets were done a couple of years ago, and the oil isn't milky at all.

Is this mechanic lazy or just that good? πŸ€”

Can a tire be called unrepairable just by looking at it? πŸ€” The guy at the auto center told me this isn't fixable without even taking the tire off to look at it.

Just wondering if he could really make that call without a proper inspection. What do you guys think?

Top it off or flush it out? πŸ€”

Can someone help a colorblind guy out? πŸ€” I pulled a sample from my 2006 Hummer H3 with 108k miles.

I thought it was supposed to be orange Dex-Cool, but this doesn't seem to match the new bottle I bought. It's been about an inch under the cold fill line for the 40k miles I've owned it and has never overheated.

What color am I looking at here? πŸ› οΈ

I believe the dealership is acting in bad faith. I recently had my transmission torn down, and they are now claiming that my reverse gear is "shattered from abuse" and therefore not covered under warranty. Their justification is that I launched the car while in race mode. But that is precisely what race mode is designed forβ€”if a manufacturer provides a race mode feature, the vehicle should be engineered to handle that use. Blaming me for utilizing an advertised function is illogical.

What they are pointing to as evidence of abuse are a few broken gear teeth, but in reality this points to a parts failure or defective engineering. A properly built transmission should not fail under the very conditions the car was marketed to withstand.

The dealership is effectively denying a legitimate warranty claim by redefining normal use of a factory feature as misuse. This feels like a deliberate attempt to avoid responsibility for a defective component that should be fully covered under the powertrain warranty.

I’ve informed them that I will be escalating the matter and involving legal counsel. I have no intention of paying out of pocket for a repair that is clearly a warranty issue.

I’d be interested to hear if others have encountered similar tactics from dealerships, or if I am being singled out. πŸ€”πŸ€¨πŸ™‚β€β†”οΈ

My mechanic said this about my Sonata's brakes πŸ€”

I'm a bit out of my element here and need some solid advice. πŸ”§ My mechanic just changed out the rotors on my 2011 Sonata.

He mentioned there's no need to put the drum brakes back on, and the car will still run smoothly. I'm not a mechanic myself, so I'm not entirely sure about this.

Should I put the drum brakes back on or leave them off? πŸ€” Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Mate, ran over a key and it poked my tire. Anyone know if this 2023 Toyota RAV4 tire can be repaired, or is it a gonner?

Could this angle be the vibration culprit? 😳

Got a bit of a vibration and some gnarly clanging noises coming from what sounds like this area on my 1992 Ford Ranger 2WD. πŸ”§ I'm wondering if this angle on my driveshaft is too extreme?
This is the spot where I'm hearing it. Any thoughts on if this angle could be the culprit?

Appreciate any advice! πŸ™

You're still buying dedicated oil pans? πŸ€”

Shop tip for ya. πŸ”§ Instead of buying an oil pan for $30, I grab a 6.36L laundry detergent jug for $15 and reuse the container.

This is my second one and it's been solid for my oil changes. The spout is great for pouring into an empty oil jug for disposal.

It's a little slow, so once I pour some out, I just open the screw cap to finish the pour. For anyone who thinks this is gonna cause spillage, there are zero issues.

It's not that deep. lol πŸ› οΈ
