Big Sun Community Solar is making headlines! ☀️

The San Antonio Express-News recently took a closer look at our work with CPS Energy to expand community solar across San Antonio, giving more customers an opportunity to benefit from solar without installing panels on their own roofs.

With 20 MW planned in the program’s first phase, this is an exciting step toward making solar more accessible across our community.

You don’t need a roof to own solar in San Antonio ☀️

Big Sun Community Solar is expanding a pilot program with CPS Energy that has already proven itself once. Now renters, shaded lots, and anyone whose roof just doesn’t work for panels can buy into commercial-grade solar built at shared solar farms, starting with the San Antonio Food Bank. You own the panel, CPS Energy credits your bill for the power it produces, and it pays for itself over the program’s 20 years.

Meet the Big Sun Interns
(Yes, we have interns. Yes, they’re smarter than us.)
This summer, we’re joined by four students who are terrifyingly competent:
• Ben – Rice University. May or may not have already rewritten part of our process.
• Lilly – Trinity University. Brings more organization than the rest of us combined.
• Aidan – Also Rice. We don’t know how one school gets this many overachievers.
• David – UTSA. Once fixed something none of us knew was broken.
They’re curious, sharp, and somehow still smiling after seeing our file structure. We're lucky to have them on Team Big Sun, even if they're making us question our own college years.
