To our Valued Customers and beyond,

We would like to take a moment to inform you about the wind ratings of three-tab shingles. Some of you may have experienced high winds in your neighborhood as well as shingles blown off by the high wind gusts. Wind ratings vary between manufacturers while some have a rating of 60 mph others have up to 90 mph for three tabs shingles. The amount of nails for shingle play a huge factor in the wind resistancy. Installing 5 to 6 nails will will add a higher wind rating. In our region where we rarely get, these types of winds. Our minimum nails per shingle for our region is four nails, which would put it on the lower end of the wind ratings. Some of these wind gusts have come pretty close to 60 mph in areas while other areas have exceeded that. We have had multiple days of high winds which has really compromised a lot of shingles. Some may have been loosened or damaged by the earlier winds and the second and third and fourth windy days that we experienced has made it easier for those shingles to blow off.

It is advised to have your roof looked at by a trained professional prior to filing any claims. This will put you on the right direction from the start in getting your roof repaired or replaced in a timely manner. If you are noticeably missing shingles on areas of your roof or are unsure, give us a call we will be glad to assist.
