⭐️💚It's Meet the Board Member MONDAY! ⭐💚

I am pleased to introduce one of our incredible leaders, Stephanie Alvarado, Business Development and Division Diversity Coordinator for SpawGlass.

At HCA de SA, our organization is proudly led by 14 dedicated volunteer board members who give their time and expertise to support and grow our community.

Stay tuned throughout this series as we highlight each of these amazing individuals and the impact they are making! 🙌
:
Who Are You?

Hi, I’m Stephanie Alvarado with SpawGlass, where I serve as the Business Development and Division Diversity Coordinator. I’m honored and incredibly excited to be serving my second year as a Board Member.

Why did You Join the board?

I joined the Hispanic Contractors Association de San Antonio (HCA de SA) because I believe in its mission of creating opportunities, advancing workforce development, and strengthening the construction industry through collaboration and inclusion. As a construction industry professional of over twenty-three years (yikes!), I saw HCA as an organization that not only advocates for contractors and small businesses but also invests in the future workforce that will sustain our industry for generations to come.
My goal within HCA has been to create lasting impact by strengthening the connection between education and industry. As the HCA de SA Women in Construction Chair, I am working to increase visibility, mentorship, and leadership opportunities for women pursuing careers in construction. As the HCA de SA Student Chapter Chair at Alamo Colleges Northeast Lakeview College Construction Management Degree Program, I am focused on creating pathways for students to engage directly with contractors, architects, engineers, and public-sector leaders. Through my role as an HCA Board Member, I remain committed to expanding workforce development initiatives, supporting supplier diversity, and helping build a stronger, more inclusive construction industry. I believe HCA has the power to change lives by creating opportunities, and I am proud to contribute to that mission through service, leadership, and community engagement.

What’s your favorite time of the year?

My favorite time of the year is Oyster Bake season at St. Mary's University. As an alumna, this event holds a special place in my heart because it combines so many things I value, community, service, tradition, and giving back.
I volunteer behind the scenes each year because the funds raised help provide scholarships for students, including the scholarship that helped me earn my degree. Without that financial assistance, graduating would not have been possible for me, which makes supporting this event especially meaningful.
Every year, I enjoy doing my part to help make Oyster Bake a success, whether that’s working behind a booth, supporting operations, or reconnecting with fellow alumni and friends throughout the weekend. Oyster Bake is more than just a beloved San Antonio tradition. It’s an opportunity to invest in future generations and help students achieve their educational goals.
If you spot me at Oyster Bake, be sure to swing by the Steak on a Stick booth and say hello!
