Encinitas’ Jake Marshall’s was locked in and steady in his hunt for his first World Surf League event victory at the U.S. Open of Surfing.

This photo of Jake training with USA Surfing coach Ryan Simmons captures one of the many steps along the way. As a USA Surfing U12 national champion and member of the U.S. Junior Team, Jake built a foundation through years of dedication, competition and hard work.

Today, he earned his first World Surf League event victory at the U.S. Open of Surfing. Making victory even sweeter, Jake took the win in front of tons of friends and family, a massive HB crowd, and on a wave that he’s competed on for two decades.

Congratulations Jake! We’re all proud to have watched your journey unfold and look forward to seeing this momentum carry you forward 🇺🇸🌊🏆
