Our clients wanted to freshen up their current yard by taking it to the next level. We were tasked with the mission of designing a new patio cover, adding an outdoor kitchen/bar with media, giving the existing pool and firepit a face lift, and adding more "greenery" to the current areas that are heavy with hardscape. We wanted to borrow from the neighbors mature "tropical" plant material backdrop to give off a tropical resort vibe.

We are excited to present the Powers Project, an extensive rear yard makeover collaboration with Lampert, Diaz Architects. The key elements of this design include working around the proposed architectural improvements and additions. These include a new sub-terranean wine cellar and workout space, new kitchen expansion, and new balcony expansion. Our role was to marry up the exterior improvements with the new features. These new features include a relocation of a new pool and spa, new outdoor kitchen area, new firepit lounge zone, new vineyard on the existing slope, new hardscape, and an overall reworking of the landscaping throughout. Our overall design is intended to pay homage to the heavy Santa Barbara mission style interior. A simple and timeless combination of materials and elements coming together to form a cohesive well flowing space.

We are always excited by the challenge of redesigning an existing "designed space" after our client has spent close to 10 years living with the pros and cons of the initial work. We are honored to be asked to address and fix some of the foundational design flaws that become painfully clear after a decade of living within the space.
