Dishwasher fills with water but spray arms barely move. Dishes come out dirty even after a full cycle. In most cases, the problem is connected to weak water circulation inside the unit.
The circulation pump is responsible for pushing water through spray arms under pressure. When it starts losing performance, water still enters the machine, but the force is no longer enough to rotate the arms properly. Cleaning quality drops, detergent doesn’t dissolve fully, and upper racks often stay untouched.
There are several possible reasons behind this issue. Spray arms may be clogged with mineral deposits. Filters can be blocked with food residue. In more serious cases, the circulation pump motor itself becomes weak or partially damaged. This leads to low pressure and uneven washing.
Simple maintenance like cleaning filters and spray arms can help in some situations. If the problem continues, the issue is usually inside the pump system and requires professional inspection.
Ignoring the symptoms often makes things worse. The pump works under stress, efficiency drops further, and other components may be affected.
If your dishwasher shows these signs, it’s better to check it early instead of waiting for a full breakdown.
