These granite blocks began their journey in Belgium, crossed the Atlantic as ship’s ballast in the hulls of Dutch cargo vessels, were offloaded onto the docks of New York and repurposed to pave its streets and waterfront corridors — some of the most storied ground in America. Over a century later they were salvaged, brought to California, and given a final chapter worthy of their history.

Every block was individually measured and hand-cut to account for its irregular shape and size. The result is an entrance that carries the weight of that journey in every stone placed beneath your feet.

There is a particular momentum that arrives when walls replace framing and subflooring begins to conceal its own geometry — the project stops being a promise and starts being a place. That shift never gets old.
