Check out Matt Barrie and Castro Golf falling victims to Stinger. A hole we designed specially for Tiger Woods signature shot. It seamed the had all the theory and plan ready but, hey, sometimes you just over plan things 😅😂. Stinger took 3 full matches for top PGA Tour players to figure it out during TGL season 2. Having these fine gentlemen try it out without warming up was definitely decreasing their chances of success. Nevertheless we had a blast and it’s always great to see these guys in action at Sofi Center. Appreciate the “no warmup” invitation to join TGL live on YouTube Jeff Neubarth 😅👍.

“Always ask nature for permission” Pizá

Today, as we complete Phase One at Jupiter Country Club, I find myself placing my hands on a key tree on 18—not to say goodbye, but simply to say thank you.

Thank you for allowing us to become part of this landscape. For the opportunity to listen, to understand, and to engage in a dialogue with nature rather than impose our will upon it.

There is always a touch of nostalgia when a project reaches this stage. After countless walks, conversations, challenges, and decisions, the golf course slowly begins to take on a life of its own.

My sincere gratitude goes to our client for trusting our vision, to the construction team for their dedication and craftsmanship, and to the maintenance crew for their passion and embracing the responsibility of nurturing what we have created together.

As architects, we may shape the land, but nature will always have the final word.

Without a doubt, the most exciting chapter is still ahead: watching the members discover this landscape, develop their own relationship with it, and experience the emotions we hoped to inspire.

Because a great golf course is never truly finished. It evolves, matures, and continues its dialogue with those who walk it.

Phase One is complete. The relationship is just beginning.

I find October a very appropriate month to show you what my mind is thinking on some of our designs. With TGL season three creeping up on us, using AI to manifest the thought process behind Flex and, sharing the fear factor that I visualize as we try to play with your psyche. Let this be a reminder that, on and off the course, we create our own fears and practically over 90% of things we imagine and worry about, don’t even happen after all.

Pretty special to come full circle on my career and start designing club houses. Vertical architecture is where it all started studying architecture in the 90’s at Tecnológico de Monterrey
We have consulted in club houses and housing development and have created/designed more than 20 master planned communities. This time, we really dig in deeper into architecture by creating conceptual designs for a pretty cool client of ours. Stay tuned and wish us success.

Fun fact: when you are arriving into San Diego by plane, you can see this beauty on your left side window. That’s if you arrive during the day, at night you can’t really see it because it’s dark.

Mr. Player takes us inside his three Masters victories, sharing how Mr. Palmer’s loss of focus opened the door for him in 1961, a shot in 1974 that remains one of the greatest I’ve ever seen, and how he nearly shot 27 on the back nine while winning his third Green Jacket in 1978. Hearing those stories from the man who lived them is a pretty special experience.

We also get into what you and I can take from his success: discipline, preparation, fitness, and handling pressure. Mr. Player explains why he believes his book, Don’t Choke, should be required reading for junior golfers, and shares his passion for giving back to the game.

Then Augie gives us a fresh way to look at the courses we play. We discuss what separates a good course from a great one, how design influences our decisions, and his experiences working with Nicklaus Construction, Tom Fazio, and Gary Player. He also takes us inside his work designing holes for TGL. Augie has an incredible artistic eye, and his enthusiasm makes this such an enjoyable conversation.

I have a phrase that I use when I begin our presentations, “the passion begins when you live the experience,” and experiences like this are precisely how I continue to grow my passion for the game we love and the wonderful industry we are fortunate to be part of.

The great Jim Nantz says, “Hello, friends,” and that is exactly how we felt last night as he received ASGCA’s highest honor, the Donald Ross Award.

Fittingly, Jim is the first broadcaster ever to receive the award — a recognition not only of his legendary voice, but of the way his storytelling, love for the game and appreciation for golf course architecture have helped generations see golf through a deeper lens.

Jim, thank you for sharing your stories, your passion and your inspiration with all of us.
