As the evenings grow longer, a home shows another side of itself. A fire settling into the grate, a single candle on the mantel, a lamp that pools light instead of flooding the room. These are the quiet details that make a space feel held after dark.

Happy Halloween from our studio to yours. We hope your weekend is cozy, candlelit, and just a little spooky. 🎃

: Golden hour, brought indoors.

This dining room began with a feeling: a warm sunset glow against a deep evening blue. From there, the palette came together piece by piece. Brass for shimmer, mustard and blush for warmth, natural white oak to ground it, and a pop of red-orange to keep it playful.

Thinking about bringing more color into your home? Let's talk.

A busy family of five, a backyard full of chickens, and a 1960 ranch home that needed room to breathe.

In Carmichael, we opened the kitchen to the living and dining areas, with solid hickory counters, sage green cabinets, and hand-glazed zellige tile. The garage became a primary suite with a vaulted ceiling and exposed beams. The en-suite bath pairs white brick tile with natural white oak and brushed gold fixtures.

This month’s blog post: Kitchen Renovation in San Francisco: Budget, Timeline, and What to Know First.

Published figures put a major kitchen remodel in San Francisco between $100,000 and $190,000. Construction can take 8 weeks or stretch to 16, depending on whether the layout changes. The projects that go smoothly are the ones planned around those realities from the start.

In the full post, we walk through where the budget really goes, why one delay can shift the whole schedule, and the decisions worth making before you sign anything.

: Misty pines, ink-wash branches, and handmade stoneware set the tone for this modern farmhouse powder room at our Lorain project. Scalamandré's Pine wallcovering carries the story onto the walls.

Every kitchen we design starts with a conversation about how it will be lived in. For this 1969 farmhouse, home to the same couple for over 42 years, that meant opening up the kitchen and rethinking it from the sink out.

First came the walkthrough and the plan. Then the old sink came out, and we selected each finish to work together: handmade tile, leathered quartzite, satin hardware, and painted millwork. Throughout construction, we worked closely with the builder so every decision made it from the drawings to the finished space.

Tucked near the beach in the Outer Sunset, this condo needed the everyday spaces to feel considered, not cramped.

In the kitchen, wood countertops and a hand-laid tile backsplash bring in warmth and closed storage that keeps things calm. Just steps away, the living room carries that same quiet materiality through to where the day actually winds down.

We design kitchens to be calm, useful and made to last.

Each surface, finish and fixture is chosen to hold up to daily life and still feel considered years from now. Here are a few kitchens from our recent work, each shaped around the people who gather there.
