somewhere around year nine of running this company i noticed my phone had a folder that was just food.
homemade pepperoni pizza from a customer who had just finished a 25 mile bike ride. spaghetti and meatballs with the air handler closet still open behind me. miso ramen a customer made me, eaten in the truck cab. beans and sausage on a patio with a dog under the table making a strong case for half of it.
none of these people had to do that. i show up, i fix the thing, i leave. the plate is extra. it is a customer looking at the guy working on their system and deciding he is a person before he is an invoice.
that is the part of this job nobody prints on the van, so i am printing it here. new series. plate in front, panel off. i will never post a name or a house, but i will never forget who fed me either.
thank you, south bay. you cook better than you think.
