In this class, creativity with skills yields unimaginable results. Students are taught not only basic building skills but are also taught hands on skills that are applicable in day to day lives. We use high quality machines and tools so that our students will get that 'commercial feel' as if they were to work in real life construction jobs. Well everyday we face trial where we have to at least be
hands on. Therefore having experience in construction is the backbone to success in day to day hands on problems. Our students are work and group oriented and thus the final result is due to excellency in team work. The advanced kids, students who have been in the class for at least 2 yrs, assist the beginning students. The result of this is a spectacular work environment and a great learning experience, even for advanced students. The two main teachers, our very own Mr. Fredericks and Mr. Montoya are very experienced and adept in their field of knowledge in construction. This in turn yields impressive results from the work being done. That is due to the fact that the students simply learn from the best. In addition, we have an outstanding group of core teachers as members of the PHHS Construction Tech CTE Team. Berry(social studies), R. DeLaRosa(math), R. Lundell(English), & J. Montoya(science & const. This group provides tutoring for all students in their subject areas as well as recruitment and information for college and career readiness. Current Projects
As you can see, our main project is a tiny house. Our students, whether it be beginner or advanced, are working hard, school day after school day, and even after school by helping work on the house. This house will be a major accomplishment in the history of Piedmont Hills High School.
