The red tag is already on the tree

A NOTICE on the trunk is not a reminder to prune. It is either a removal or a trim, and the paper says which.

Removal often means the tree comes out, the stump gets ground, and you plant the specimen the city named. A different tree from the nursery will not pass inspection. A trim tag names the circumference or the size the canopy has to be reduced to. That measurement is what they check.

Read the notice before anyone cuts. Waiting is how a trim tag turns into a removal.
