Project Spotlight: Concord, CA

St. Francis Electric recently completed the Village Road / Cowell Road Crossings project for the City of Concord—focused on delivering safety improvements near both a park and school in busy residential areas.

Scope included installing new curb ramps, striping, and flashing beacons to enhance pedestrian access and safety. One crossing provides direct access into an elementary school, while another improves connectivity to Concord Community Park—eliminating the need for pedestrians to take longer, indirect routes.
Despite delays with concrete during the pour days, our team made do with the challenges faced and kept the project on track—ultimately finishing quicker than bid and under budget.

Through efficient coordination with the general contractor, the team was able to deliver within a tight 6-day schedule.

The result: safer, more accessible crossings that support daily foot traffic and improve safety for children, families, and the broader community.
Recognition to the entire crew for delivering a high-impact project on an accelerated timeline.

Employee Spotlight: Nadia Whisler, Project Admin

For the past 2 years, Nadia has been a key part of keeping our projects running smoothly—from contract administration and procurement coordination to supporting field operations and ensuring seamless communication across teams.

What stands out most is her growth. Nadia shared that gaining confidence in her work has transformed how she approaches challenges, collaborates, and shows up each day—and it shows.

She also reminds us of something important: finding balance matters. Her advice to new team members—take the time to learn, ask questions, and prioritize work-life balance—is something we can all benefit from.

We’re proud to have Nadia on the team and grateful for the dedication and positivity she brings to St. Francis Electric every day.

Project Spotlight: Salinas AG-Industrial

Harris Place & Harris Rd – Salinas, CA

St. Francis Electric is proud to support the development of the new Amazon Fulfillment Center in Salinas through the installation of Joint Trench, Gas, and Signal infrastructure. Partnering with DeSilva Gates as the General Contractor, our team has worked diligently to meet demanding schedules while coordinating with multiple subcontractors on a dynamic, fast-paced job site.

Despite challenges such as tight timelines, overlapping work zones, and site security concerns, our crews have implemented strategic solutions like securing a temporary yard for materials and equipment, and coordinating large-volume vault deliveries to maintain efficiency and safety.

With the main trench work on track for on time completion, this project reflects our ongoing commitment to precision, teamwork, and partnership. Once complete, the new Amazon Distribution Center will help streamline delivery operations—bringing faster, more efficient service to customers across the region.

A special thank-you to all the field teams and partners for driving this important project forward.

Meet Eduardo Herrera, one of St. Francis Electric’s outstanding leaders in the field. Eduardo is a Foreman who has been with SFE since 1995, keeping projects moving safely and smoothly.

Eduardo says every project he works on is memorable, but Pathline and Salinas stand out—not just because of their size, but because of the people who helped make those jobs successful. What he appreciates most about St. Francis Electric is that, no matter what, the company is there for you with no questions asked.

He believes his work is just as important as anyone else’s and that without each person doing their part, St. Francis Electric wouldn’t be what it is today—we all contribute to our shared success. For anyone who loves this trade, Eduardo sees SFE as a place full of opportunity: if you’re committed and passionate, you will succeed here.

That 0.58 isn’t just a safety score—it means SFE is performing significantly safer than the industry average, and we’re proud of what that says about our people and our culture. A low EMR (Experience Modification Rating, “MOD”) like this reflects fewer injuries, fewer claims, and a stronger track record of keeping our jobsites controlled and our teams protected over time.

Every pre-project plan, every time someone speaks up, and every moment a person chooses to do the job the right way instead of the fast way is reflected in this number. To our employees: thank you for looking out for one another and proving we can be both high-performing and safe. To our clients and partners: we hope this gives you confidence in our commitment to sending everyone home safe and delivering your projects with the highest standard of safety on every jobsite.

Solano County—Vallejo, CA

SFE’s Caltrans Solano County project is in the spotlight as our team upgrades traffic signal infrastructure and installs new street lighting at 22 intersections along Sonoma Blvd (Hwy 29) in Vallejo, CA, enhancing safety and visibility for both pedestrians and drivers throughout this busy corridor.

From working around existing utilities and tight Caltrans right of way to maintaining vehicle and pedestrian access and reducing impacts on nearby businesses, our field crews are overcoming complex constraints while keeping the project ahead of schedule and on budget.

Using technologies like pipe locators and bore machines to reduce roadway excavation, the team is also managing contaminated soils, stormwater protections, and other environmental considerations to safeguard local waterways.

By March 2026, completion of the underground work will enable new ADA-compliant curb ramps and roadway improvements, supporting future grind-and-pave operations and delivering a safer, brighter travel corridor for the Vallejo community and all who rely on Hwy 29.
