Please meet Richmond. We met this little bundle of love several months back when his Mother, Heather dropped in to introduce us, all wrapped up in a sling snuggled under her coat. THE CUTENESS! As you know, we are all huge dog lovers but there was something special about his little face that we especially needed that day and we've grown attached. Richmond is now 7 months old and it was time for a custom pet tag, so Melissa made up the little bone size and even textured the front so it was super sassy. Needless to say, he wears in very well! Another reason why Richmond is so special is the backstory of how Heather and her husband, Scott found him. I asked Heather to put it into her own words: "Richmond was part of litter with mom rescue from LA brought to Woods Humane Society earlier this year at around 8 weeks old. He's a Chihuahua/Pug/Dachshund mix. After losing our beloved English Golden that same month, we went to Woods to donate her belongings so other dogs could enjoy them. We saw him on the website and met him that morning, and were immediately smitten with him. He was her gift to us! He's now 7 months old, LOVES people, giving kisses and visiting wineries around SLO. He's incredibly smart, silly and mischievous!" We are so happy for Heather, Scott and Richmond and the visits from them are icing on our cake.

Before we start packing up my old studio, I'm going through my pieces and parts and determining if I want to use/move them or let them go. I love metal - especially worn brass, copper & galvanized and I have quite the hoard I've collected over the years. So the last two days I've focused on pulling and sorting the metal I'm ready to let go ofband figured out pretty quickly that it would be best to start with bins in the truck bed vs filling them and then lifting them in the truck 😉. This truck bed is full and I'm headed to the salvage yard tomorrow to turn it in. They've taught me a lot about metal over the years, so I got out my magnet and my file and sorted accordingly. My guess is over 1,500 pounds and I will update you tomorrow as we take it off and weigh it all. It really felt good to touch everything and I got very inspired finding things I haven't seen for awhile!

Whew! It's been a crazy busy couple of days, but with lots of help, we were able to cross off a lot of tasks off our list! Yesterday we moved the items CeCe purchased for her new space to include the two science tables we've had in our back room for 8 years (and 300 pound tops), some workbenches and other bigs, then unloaded our current storage, picked up some pieces at my studio for the store, had lunch, and then wave number two of moving a bunch of stuff from our upstairs office to make room for the new staff break area. Whew! Tyler came back today to move the big furniture pieces and continue emptying out the back, back room. Daniel did over 18K steps yesterday and I'm sure at least that today, too. Still lots to go but we're pretty stoked how far we've already come. Best compliment of the day? Tyler telling us that Weis a really good job measuring everything because the pieces all fit together with just a little room to spare. I'll take it!

We've been posting a lot about my studio moving shenanigans and while all that craziness is happening, Melissa is (and always has been) the calm in the storm. She's holding down the fort with Ellen, Milla, Eden and Stephanie, making sure that everything is humming along while Daniel and I focus on our end goal of Sept 30. We appreciate you, Melissa! 💫🌟💫

I told myself that when I make this move, I'm only bringing what I want to work with, store the materials I can't live without and let go of everything else. Today was day one of going through all the metal I've been hoarding for so many years. It felt great to rediscover favorites and say goodbye to items that don't speak to me anymore. I've spent a lot of quality time at the salvage yard and know a bit about metals so it was nice to use my skills and sort the different bins of brass, copper, steel, aluminum, etc. I have at least another day to go through my drawers and cabinets and am going to the salvage yard on Monday. Daniel got everything ready for the first round of moving at the store tomorrow (stay tuned for some flash sales!), I got a visit from Leif (he loves his new VW Bus side and is going to light it up!) and CeCe picked up a bunch of stuff she bought for some of her projects. It was a great day and more to come!

We have a fun update! I have decided it's time to move my studio space into the back, back room of our store. I've been in a 1,200 square foot warehouse space for the last 5 years and all that room is great, but I'm honestly not there enough to appreciate and use it. So, with the help and patience of Daniel, Ellen & Melissa, we've mapped out a way to bring my favorite part of my studio, my "hug" into this fabulous space that is really what sold us on the building in the first place. Now, I will get to look at and enjoy the 100 year old brick & heavy Iron doors every day and be closer to Ellen & the Team for product production,n store tours and more. In addition, we will have a large off-site storage unit where we can manage intake, process and storage, too. This is a big change for all of us, but a good & healthy one and I am really excited! We have the month of September to get this all done, so just like our road trips & "Corona Garden", we will be updating about our progress every day. We look forward to sharing it with you and promise it's going to be great!

Daniel, Ellen and I are in full holiday swing starting with Halloween. We've been hoarding old dolls all year and needless to say, they are going to be the highlight of our show. There are some seriously creepy ones (thanks to {𝚕𝚒𝚜𝚊 𝚜𝚘𝚞𝚎𝚛𝚜 } 🐿 for finding us some of the very best!) and Ellen will start working on them next week with the goal of having Halloween on the floor by the middle of September. I'm even pulling out some of my bases, boxes and bits to make these assemblages super special. Stay tuned!

We had the most wonderful visit from these two beauties, Kenna & Allene. They've been following our adventures for many, many years, always commenting on our posts, and today we got to meet them live and in person. Both of them are artists and it was fun to talk about that. Getting to put a face to a name is one of the best parts of what we do and we and we thank you for making the trip, ladies!

Speaking of tables, there's a new one that just hit the floor. This maple top locker table was purchased by our friends, Seabreeze Cupcakes years ago when she first launched her bakery business. She's grown to the point where they don't have room for it anymore and we're re-selling it for her. There are casters mounted to the wood holding the two lockers, so it's easier to move around and the top was used for food grade so we re-conditioned it with butcher block conditioner so it can continue on as a kitchen island, or be used as a craft/workshop/studio/etc table and all that locker storage is so handy. The top is the heavy part but it can be taken off for transport. The overall approximate measurement is: 62 long x 53. wide x 2" thick. 37" tall. If you can't pick it up, we are happy to arrange or work with your shipping company.
