⚡ Product of the Week: Tesla Model 3 Rear Drive Unit Starter Kit ⚡

Not every build has the space to accommodate a larger Tesla drive unit. The Model 3 rear drive unit offers up to 220 kW (294 hp) while weighing just 194 lb and measuring approximately 20 x 26 x 13 inches, making it a great option for applications where larger units won’t fit. Additionally, some builds may not have the clearance or space required to mount the differential in a forward-facing configuration. In these cases, the Model 3 unit, with its rear-facing differential, may be a better fit and provide a more practical solution for the build.
This kit pairs it with the EV Controls T2-C, so you get a running Tesla drivetrain without the rest of the Tesla.

Our 1965 VW Double Cab is getting a Tesla drive unit. This week Spicer pulls the rear bearing housing, presses the stub axle out on the shop press, then cleans the housing up at the bench.

The drive unit sits on our VW Type 2 Bus subframe, built for the Tesla Model S rear drive unit in T1 and early T2 Buses. $1,895, in stock.

Our 1965 VW Double Cab is getting a Tesla drive unit. This week Spicer pulls the rear bearing housing off the truck, presses the stub axle out on the shop press, then takes the housing to the welding table for cleanup with the grinder.

The motor and batteries get the attention. A lot of the hours in a conversion go into jobs like this one.
