We are in the home stretch on this custom build. Clients often ask us what happens during the final days of construction. At this stage, it is all about the finishing details and a whole lot of cleanup.

Right now, we are installing the final appliances and completing the interior trim. A unique feature of this project was the window design. The homeowner wanted a highly customized look, so we installed Prairie-style windows with architectural grids. We also modified several unique, older light fixtures provided by the client to seamlessly fit the brand-new space.

As for the exterior colors? The entire scheme was actually inspired by the unpainted yellow Hardie board we used during construction.

We recently had the chance to transform an outdoor space and wanted to share a behind-the-scenes look with you. One of the most common questions we get is how to make a composite deck look perfectly clean and finished. On this project, we used a high-quality Trex decking product and opted for the screw and plug method. This completely hides the fasteners, giving the surface a seamless, flawless look that holds up beautifully over time.

To complete the design, we will be adding custom cedar handrails with openings on each side for easy access. Combining the low-maintenance durability of composite boards with the natural warmth of cedar is a great way to elevate your outdoor living area. We recently had the pleasure of installing some gorgeous vintage light fixtures for a client, and it reminded us of how much character antique pieces can bring to a modern home. However, blending the old with the new comes with its own unique set of challenges.

One of the most common hurdles is figures out how to securely attach antique fixtures to standard modern ceiling brackets. It often requires a bit of problem-solving and custom adjustments to ensure everything is safe and secure. The good news? You usually do not need to fully rewire the fixtures, but getting them to flush-mount correctly takes patience.

We are frequently asked how to optimize indoor living space without sacrificing essential utilities. On a recent spec home, we decided to rethink the traditional water heater placement. Instead of taking up valuable attic or interior closet space, we built a dedicated utility closet accessible from the carport.

To ensure performance and safety, we heavily insulated the space with spray foam and are installing a heater and fan to regulate temperatures year-round. This setup houses the main water inlet, the water softener loop, and the water heater in one convenient, protected exterior location. While this was a special request for this build, it is a great example of how a few square feet of exterior space can free up significant room inside your home.

We often get asked how to balance traditional aesthetics with modern construction efficiency. One of our recent custom builds in Bastrop, Texas, provides a great example. This home features a striking limestone chimney that many assume is a full masonry build.

In reality, this is a wood-burning fireplace housed in a metal unit, then expertly wrapped in a Texas mix limestone.
